Griffin RTA isolator melted? WHAAAAAT

Good day to all the vapers out there..

Okay so I need so expert advice or input... My brother bought himself the Griffin RTA a couple of days ago..Griffin got set up by a guy at another vape shop as I wasn't in town.

He has used it for about 3 days until he started to complain that it doesn't work sometimes and says no connection.

I opened it up to see if the coils were still proparly tied down and noticed that the isolation melted and now 1 of the posts are loose...

He has a cuboid mini and he only used it from 35W to about 40W on the power setting as I told him to stay low range first to get a feel of the Griffin..and later on we can go to higher watts..

The wire that has been used is Alien Clapton 32Ga flat as recommended by the guy I the shop it ran about 5-6 wraps around 0.14-0.2 ohms..

Why would it melt so easily? Is it a faulty device? Do we need to take it back?

thats strange , i vaped my griffin constantly at 85w and have it for 3months with no issue
 
Doubt it's pocket fire had it for 3 days? Never had a issue with the twisp tank on what so ever, amd the Twisp tanks atti is super sensitive. Always switches device off after use, he just occasionally vapes

Polyether ether ketone (PEEK) has a glass transition state of 143 °C at which point it goes from hard to soft rubbery state.
Melting point of 343 °C.

So, IMO its either
  1. fake knockoff PEEK, or
  2. it has endured 143 °C.
Im feeling its more option 1 because I dont see the posts and build deck getting to 100 °C in a working atty.

Thank you for clearing that out.

I did check the security code out on there page it's a legit device but like you said the "PEEK" might not be.. I'll definitely take it back then coz I'm 100% sure it did not reach 343°C in his pocket

Especially not at 40 watts on a 0.14 coil, probably takes the full cut off time to build any decent heat. Maybe if his cousin is chain vaping like a crazy man, which I could believe with the ramp up time that he probably gets on that, could be a heat thing.

Yehp yehp that's normally the first thing I do before I even start any assembly on them. But will sure give them a call and find out what is going on. Doubt it would have reached 140°C as it's on a low watt, occasionally vaped and he always switches the mod off

No chain vaping at all normally takes about 3 puffs 4 times a day.. and yes takes time to heat the coil up,after the second pull it would be at the right temp to Vape as usual

A loose connection would cause the positive post to heat up.

It has to be user error combined with sub par peek material on the insulator.

Unless it's really cheap low melting point peek knockoff they used in a pinch.
