I am not really the tree hugging type. I believe we have a great impact on our world, but instead of braiding our hair and hugging trees, appealing for a return to the cave-man days, we should move forward and find practical solutions to deal with the negative impact we have. We are reasonably intelligent. Well, arguably more intelligent that the great apes at least, and we can do a lot with technology to solve our problems. So I've been chewing on the disposables issue lately. Imagine the mountains of plastic and battery waste being created every day, chilling. Recycling? Rubbish, it's a marketing myth. The amount of recycled material is miniscule in practice. However, I am not going to save the world so don't hold your breath, it's not a good idea. The disposable market doesn't present a threat to our business, it's a different market. But a roaring one at the moment. So we've been mulling on whether we should bring our own juices to market as disposables or just sell whatever is out there, the flavour of the day if you will. My impressions: Pros of disposables: Convenience Ummm..... Cons: Staggeringly high cost. Ignore puffs, it's a stupid and overstated metric. Small puffs, ave puffs, long puffs? And then add at least 30% inflation for marketing claims. The only metric that makes any sense is ml juice. A 2ml disposable at 50mg ~ R100 A 2ml Uwell Neat R230 30ml 50mg Juice ~R215 100ml 50mg ~R560 Disposable R50/ml. Yea, how's that make you DIY okes feel hey? Pod with 30ml juice R15/ml includes hardware Pod with 100ml juice R8.50/ml includes hardware, spare pod and coil Apart from mountains of toxic waste it costs a fortune, and the flavours suck big time TBH. I've tried a range lately just to see. Mostly coolant to make you feel like you are inhaling something. For the convenience of not having to fill the little pod once a day and plug it in to recharge. Not a great convenience isit. So what am I missing here?
