100% agree on most of what you say... but there most certainly does need to be a thread called etiquette because with any group or club there is always a certain etiquette that needs to be followed... this is more of an informative thread than hard and fast rules and you may have noticed none of the mods or admin have shouted anyone in this regard.

Then there are those with OCD that simply can't stand a thread title typed all in smalls. It looks untidy. :-@ I fix at least 2-3 headings a day BTW and don't kak on any of them... but hopefully they will read the etiquette guidelines and realise that being a good online forum member means they need to pay a little more attention to etiquette.

Again these are guidelines to being a good online member...

Yes you guys are totally correct, in saying as long as you understand.

BUT, fact is commas and full stops etc. makes things a helluva lot easier to read.

Take Bumblee's pic - I had to read that line 3 times to get the punchline.

I'm just saying. I'm actually pretty easy going.

I see Afrikaans folks common "errors", because they directly translate from Afrikaans. This does not slow me down. But no commas and full stops and such, I have to keep reading and work out what the hell the person was trying to say.

Again, I'm just saying. Not a big deal. I probably just won't read your waffle :)

I completly understand Rob, and I applaud your (and the other mods') hard work on here - and I've never seen anyone even scolded (in a serious manner) for not adhering to these guidelines

I did not mean this to in any way detract from what this thread is for: asking everyone to respect the place where we all get together, to try their best. Was just putting it out there, so others might also try to see this from someone else's point of view.

We also need a sub-thread "Spelling 101" for those that either skipped primary school and/or don't know how to at least use the American (annoying) spell check utility on this forum. I maybe old-school, but nothing more irritating than reading a post full of spelling mistakes, it always let me doubt the poster's linguistic skills. That's my rant for today.

I could not agree more... and the fact of the matter is my spelling is atrocious and still don't know how I passed matric English! But typing online is a piece of cake because the inbuilt spell checker fix's it all for me so I look like I can spell!

PS the online spell checker fixed three errors in this post! ;)

I used the term "linguistic skills" because I wanted to be politically correct for a change - what I actually meant was "diligence".

I think that a large amount of the fault is to be directed and social media such as bbm and whatsapp. Everyone uses short hand and especially when you are browsing the forum from a mobile device, does this shorthand take over. Most people using their mobile devices to browse the forum will without realising it start using bbm and whatsapp lingo. As i am typing this from my mobile I already had to correct a few shorthand typos.

I think that the Ocd issue for some is what ell drive them insane. With that being said, even with my ocd I have managed to over look typing and wording issues as long as I understood what was being carried over. I have on occasion found it a little hard at which point I just stop reading and move onto the next thread.

Punctuation does go a long way. Capitilising does make it easier to read. I am an offender as well. But I'm working in it

@Marzuq, you are doing a fine job I see!

Your post above was fantastic. It flowed nicely.
I only spotted one error - "Capilising" - lol

Seriously folks, I perfectly understand if someone doesn't know the correct spelling of a word or if their English is a second language. We are a great community and most of us look past that. We look at the person behind the post and appreciate what they are trying to communicate.

But when things get sloppy and clearly the member is just being lazy - thats where I think things can improve.

After all, this is our online vaping home - and I know many of us are extremely proud of our abode. Lets keep it looking as good as we can. You never know who is watching.... ;-)

My Firefox browser have a Afrikaans and English spell check in ;)

I am sure IE can do it as well, you must just add them. If Firefox have no idea what you wanting to say, Google is the master at guessing spelling :D

Thanks Danny... I have always been a cat lover of note but Baby Choo is the most special cat I have ever had (and I have had some awesome cats)... I have never been able to talk to a cat like Choo... she has a vocab I understand and is so attached to me, When I go away on fishing weekends I get a call from my wife to say "Talk to your Cat and calm her down"... she is not happy when I'm away and talking to her on the phone settles her... my fishing mates think I'm a loon of note!

I'm already stressing that I'm going to be away in the USA later this year for a month!

    Hi all

I am going to post this as a suggestion for the newer members of the forum.
Please read it and kindly take note.

When you post a question asking for help or advice - and experienced members take the time and trouble to think about your situation and write up a decent response offering advice and assistance - please have the courtesy to thank the members and if they ask you follow up questions, please take the time to answer them and engage accordingly.

If you engage with the community, you will most likely get much better help and advice in the future.

Too many times I see members asking "please advise me on this new mod - do you think I will like it?" - and there are many excellent responses - but the original poster is nowhere to be seen.

Hopefully this will go a long way to making the forum an even more engaging place than it is already.
