Hey all and thanks for having me!

I hope I have put this topic in the right place, ok so I got a vapefly Mesh Plus RDTA yesterday, I have never vaped mesh before but read so much about how great the flavor is, and Im a flavor chaser not a cloud chaser, so much so I even make my own juice!

Ok so not sure if I did it wrong or something, but this thing has no flavor at all. I packed in as much cotton bacon prime as I could fit and juiced the hell out of the thing, Ive vaped two tanks out, while I have massive clouds, it just taste like nothing at all. Tried different wattage, tried SS mode, tried different air, just nothing.

A bit of background though I was wondering if this might be the problem, I have a brunhilde with 2 violence coils in, Alien V2 0.25ohm, and I have so much flavor out of that, do you think that maybe Im just spoiled? I thought mesh was sposed to be the way to go though,

Any ideas would be appreciated thanks so much!

Thank you so much. It seems that everyone has an opposite problem to me haha they have flavor and not throat hit. I was just hoping for bags of flavor, and sad to say I get enough clouds to hotbox this place with no flavor at all to speak of. Even tried dripping a bunch of 55/45 on the cotton and mesh to still no great joy :(

The great thing is that the RDTA will take just about anything you through onto that deck. Single coil, dual, mesh twisted coils, aliens, whatever you want.

When I did my twisted coil in there, I raised up the coil as high as I could so that side airflow could get up and under it as well as side on. This made a difference to the taste for sure. I have a fused clapton in there now and huge flavour, very thick clouds. Mounted on a semi mech.

I haven't tried the Vapefly RTA before, but I've got 2 Kylin M RTA's and a Profile Unity RDA (both mesh) and I seem to get the most flavour out of these. I love the flavour on the mesh vapes and have had a good experience on these two so far. I even have found that they make the juice that little bit sweeter than if I vaped them in a coiled RDA or RTA. The only downside I've found about mesh is that it is a cooler vape than usual.

Any tricks to get some flavor out of mesh?

I did that :) and I chose that atty for that precisely that reason in case I don't like mesh. Anyway I'm gonna write all this here for the next person that finds this forum and this atty. I have always had double coils. The only single I've ever tried was that silly little tiny plastic vapefly on top of a squonker that wasn't mine. I honestly didn't see the point :)

Anyway long story short my other attys CAN take single coils but then it would have been either left or right. Which don't suit me at all. People say you don't notice. Hell yeah you notice.

So yeah put a fat violence coil single onto this atty. Holy cow. Almost the same amount of flavor than a pair of violence coils on any other atty. It's because of the clever placement of the airflow.
So I'm lank excited because single means less power and less ramp time, hence much longer battery for me.

Sorry about the mesh, especially as I bought 5 meters of it hahaha, but yeah that stuff is just useless. VERY Happy with the atty itself though!! Won't mark this thread resolved or fixed, because my original reason for posting wasn't :)

Dont wick it to tight. I love my mesh rta's i dont think i would be able to go back to a normal rta again

I read horror stories about swallowing fireballs... Should I try just one more time with looser wick?

Would yes the wick must be tight but doesnt need to be forced into the coil. You will find a ballance in cotton thickness. TFC cotton is already the perfect size for mesh coils and is the only cotton i use because of this.

I only buy cotton bacon prime. Would you mind at all giving an idea how to do this and get flavor?

I don't have any tips. I've just wicked it like they show in the videos.

Not sure if it makes a difference, but the Vapefly doesn't have that spring-loaded platform to push the cotton against the mesh.

So just a follow up on the experience, I tried rewicking it with all your lovely help. Still no joy flavor wise. Well I made a mix tonight at 17.75percent flavor (high for me) and also made it 60/40. Now I can taste on the mesh hehe. Is it worth the extra effort to make special juice for it.... I wish I could say yes but it's gonna be a no. I'll finish up this juice on the mesh and then put violence coils back in :) anyway have 5 meters of ss mesh if anyone needs in mpumalanga. Haha. I was so sure I'd like it I bought a roll with the atty!

This one is very good.

I am gonna give that a try on the profile. I have been doing it kind of the opposite way with success. I roll a piece for the bottom. Just I wouldn't go THAT tight, I know I WILL taste null or cotton.

I would of if I was in that area, would like to give ss mesh a go.

I got it from vape king they deliver nation wide if you wanna try. Was only like R90 for a roll

Alright, so being a never say die kinda girl ( I am South African after all) On the 1st of July, I wicked up a SS mesh again, with all info provided to me, as well as making 60/40 juice to go with it. Im only adding to this thread because it wight help someone else.
SO.... I made special juice, I made special wick, and I vaped it exclusively now for a week. The vaping experience is not unpleasant, because its mesh its very smooth, I wont deny that.

So I created a juice for my sister I dubbed "Arctic Strawberry", got hubby tasting it too hes like, ah well it kinda taste like strawberry, Im like me too... And because of my mesh RDTA I dripped it straight on as well as fill up the tank, taste kinda like strawberry. Now please also understand Im no newbie to DIY, but new to mixing for pods, or high PG anyway. There was no damn arctic and very little strawberry. Anyway after guzzling up a litre of various juice over the last week tonight Im like, well, you gave it the good ole college try, and I moved back to a SINGLE (Im normally a dual girl) violence coil.

BOOMMMMM SHAKA SHAKA!! There is my arctic, and damn I think I put too much strawberry in this mix... Damn cold strawberry as it was intended to be!

So while we are all different, Im now sitting with 6 pre made mesh coils, and another 5 metres of SS mesh because I really thought Id love it that much haha, Im a flavor not a cloud chaser, and no one can argue that with just a whisper of power mesh will give you clouds, but completely useless on flavor.

Just my experience and Im sharing it for others out there, that being said though, this atty that is designed primarily for mesh rocks my boat even as a single coil build which Im normally not into, I get as much flavor out of a single violence coil at 40w as I do with other attys with dual violence coils at 47w.

Will remain my number one recommended starter atty, just because absolutely everything is a choice with this atty, and its vapefly so its damn sturdy. Mesh just aint for me :)

We cannot complain about the atty, mesh also does not do it for me, but the tank is a winner. I use mine as a session tank, single coil at the moment and an Orange custard ice juice. Man this rocks. Huge thick clouds, loads and loads of flavour and being an RDTA negates all the dripping. Currently this tank equals or better than many RDA's

This one is very good.

Well did this on the Profile. Reporting back, best wick for sure. I went super thin with bottom legs, barely touching base, and rolled a piece ever so slightly wider than the mesh for the top.

The Vapefly is a unique tank for sure, those side airflow holes make you build high whether mesh or coils. The Unity also looks like it needs a crap load of cotton for that mesh.

First RDTA I ever worked with, kinda was hoping it would have been the Mato RDTA. But still very excited to play, yet sad to have to almost immediately give them away. Cut one of the stainless that came with it, first wick seems to not leak, and wicks decently. Works great threw it on temp control, might suck for battery but hey I like to play and it is an awesome vape. Wish had one for me too! Tough times! Used wicking method above, was super tight, a bit of a burn in, great vape now.

Hehe that's the exact thing in my hand right now, rincoe and vapefly

Haha very nice! Works super well for me with that weird SS they gave. Will be trying cheaper coils soonish, and wrap a few, as I'll need something that is lower wattage, and I can maintain easily and on budget.
