Hey there, Subscriber!

I hope this email finds you well. We are reaching out to you with an urgent call to action regarding the proposed Tobacco Products and Electronic Delivery Systems Control Bill, which is set to have far-reaching consequences for the vaping community.

As you may already know (you should know), the proposed bill will severely restrict the sale and use of both nicotine and non-nicotine-containing products, such as vapes, in public places, your own homes, and cars.

Needless to say, if this bill passes in its current version, the penalties for non-compliance are severe – imagine jail sentences ranging from 3 months to15 years for using a less harmful alternative! We must unite as a community to make our voices heard during the public hearings scheduled from the 24th to the26th of November 2023 in Gauteng. The following are the regions where these hearings will take place:

- Friday, 24 November – Lesedi Local Municipality, Heidelberg Town Hall at 14:30 - 19:30

- Saturday, 25 November – West Rand Region(venue to be confirmed) at 10:00 - 15:00

- Sunday, 26 November – Tshwane Region (venue to be confirmed) at 10:00 - 15:00.

Here are some key points to emphasize during the hearings:

1. Vaping is not the same as smoking: While traditional smoking involves the combustion of tobacco, vaping heats a liquid that releases vapour. It's vital to emphasize this distinction to avoid unjust regulations that treat vaping like traditional smoking.
2. Economic implications: The proposed bill could have detrimental economic effects, impacting businesses and jobs within the vaping industry. Let's highlight the potential consequences for local businesses and employment.

3. Anecdotal evidence: Share personal stories and experiences of how vaping has helped ex-smokers. The positive impact on public health and individual well-being needs to be emphasized.

Your presence at the hearings is crucial. Let your voice be heard and share your perspective on how vaping has positively impacted your life and the lives of those close to you. You need to encourage fellow vapers and community members to attend the hearings and express their concerns. Stress the urgency of this moment. This is a crucial opportunity to stand up and fight for the survival of vaping in South Africa.

Together, we can make a difference and protect our right to vape. Let's stand united and ensure our voices are heard during this critical time.

Thank you for your commitment to the vaping community.

Sincerely,

Asanda Gcoyi
