I have had the exact same experience and can second your fix that it does in fact work, when it's loose it can also cause leakage (that was my problem)

Horrifying. That can't be healthy, some people should just stick to a commercial tank with stock coils :|

The new Triton also comes with a m2l coil, but that's 1.8 ohms. The subtanks do have a very small airflow setting as well, I think with their new 1.5 ohm coil it might be perfect (I haven't tried the new 1.5 coils but the airflow base does have a very tight setting on it anyways)

Try making sure the coil you built is pulled up and away from the airflow hole at the bottom, or try decreasing the inner diameter of the coil you build

the ego one battery will fire down to 0.5 ohm. Try looking at the Subtank Nano, I think that battery is 22mm - same as the nano.
