Hi guys, me again...

I recently bought some Geekvape wire (luckily cheaply), but the resistance is simply to low for MTL builds. By the time I have the build big enough to get the resistance up, there is almost no space for cotton and the ramp-up is terribly slow. I now realise that although the wire gauges are very thin, the tri-core is creating a much thicker total wire.

I am now considering some of the following and would like to know who has any experience with these and what your thoughts are? Whichever one is eventually used, will be mainly used in either a 22mm Dvarw MTL, or a 22mm (hopefully a 24mm as well) KayFun Lite. I am pretty happy with a build anywhere between 0.6 and 1.0 Ohm. Obviously looking for the best possible flavour and solid throat hit. I am not too concerned about the vape temperature, but would like to avoid and spatter/crackle (although I realise that has more to do with wicking than the actual wire).

These are just the ones that looked decent to me, but I am open to other suggestions as well. I am not a huge fan of the Vandyvape Superfine, but admit I have only used the pre-rolled coils, not the wire.

Hi @CJB85 ,

I would not worry about the resistance of the build, rather keep an eye on the amount of material in the build. Resistance should not really have a bearing on the flavour. I presume you are using a regulated mod.

The Coilolgy Ni80 MTL Clapton Heating Wire is just too fine for me, I might try and build with this if I was going to vape below 10 watts.

I use that Geekvape Fused Clapton 4 wraps 2.5mm ID in plenty of different MTL devices and it works very well. The mod is showing 0.38 Ohms

If you want a build around 0.6 to 1.0 Ohms try Vandy Vape Superfine MTL Fused Clapton, 5 to 6 wraps 2.5mm ID should give resistance between 0.6 and 0.8 Ohms. Also great wire to use IMHO.

I vape these MTL builds @ 15W

Round wire builds also work well on MTL's for me, 6 wraps 24awg 2.5mm ID I do use from time to time.

Hope this helps

This was the last disaster I tried to get in there, as you can see there was just way too much wire.
I will give the 4 wrap a shot and see if it works any better.

Exactly what @GSM500 said about resistance, as long as the coil ramps up quick enough at lower MTL wattage between 10w and 20w you will be fine. to achieve a functional ramp up time you would go with less wraps say 4 or 5.

I personally use the Geekvape Tri-Core Fuzed Clapton wire in your pics, works perfectly fine for DL and MTL vaping, single or dual coil but the most wraps I have is usually 4 or 5 max. I do however find with that Geekvape FC wire spec 30ga83/38ga that the flavor, on MTL tobacco profiles has more bottom and rounded flavor notes in comparison to a Coilology MTL Framed Staple coil which brings out the top and middle flavor notes better.

I was going to suggest the same thing.
lessen the wraps.
or try 3mmID coil with less wraps aswell.

What I do know is you can vape high nic juice at very low wattage on a DL setup, because I have done that and quite liked it.
I have also wrapped 42 guage or something around a needle and threaded my wick through it by that same needle and it took the harsh vape and transformed it into a suitable MTL vape.
everyone is different though.
so experiment a litttle with what you have available.
@GSM500 gave you good advice aswell and I see it worked for you. Awesome!
Also wrapped a clapton and with the same guage wire as the core 24Guage.it also worked for me.

Sometimes you just have to do things a little different to experience it lekka.
