Dear VPASA Member,
This week ends with some good news for the international vaping community as Australia’s tobacco-harm reduction advocates’ efforts to delay the ban on nicotine e-liquid importation have paid off! This reprieve gives them more time to continue the fight for dissociation of nicotine from tobacco harm – something we at home, are all too familiar with. This moment is a lesson for us. If we all band together and support the demystification of vaping and engage policymakers and stakeholders in a concerted manner, we will bring about significant change.
At home, the ensuing legal battle between BATSA and the Minister of COGTA, which was supposed to be heard on 30 June 2020, has now been postponed to August 2020. This was followed by the news that FITA lost their bid against the President and the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs to have the tobacco ban lifted.
