I post this hoping some clarity can be given. In a thread recently someone discussed punting etc in the open forum and then rules for retailers in terms of punting via PM. Does this mean that all the PMs between members of the forum as well as those between members and retailers are being monitored and read by the forum admins and owners? I ask this in earnest not to cause trouble or anything just curious as I may have missed it but couldnt find any detail relating to this in the posting rules or T&Cs.

Nope they are not. The system keeps PM's private.

Not only does the system keep it private, but they are actually encoded within the SQL database that runs in the backend of the system.

We are entirely reliant on users informing us of any inappropriate use of the PM system by vendors

Thats really good to know, thanks for the responses.

And, in addition, in forums around the world it is not allowed to disclose the contents of or the participants to a PM at all, it is regarded as confidential between the participants. Unless of course the PM itself is against the rules (like the punting example above) or one has permission from all participants to disclose. As far as I know the same rule applies to this forum.

this is a valid question as it clears up a question that is more than garanteed to come up again in the future.
may be worthwhile to make it a sticky under the rules of the forum or as part of the newbie section

If this is correct, kindly incorporate into the Forum Rules. @Rob Fisher.
