Good day mech veterans

Im looking at getting a mech as a bullet proof back up / novalty set up

I am fully aware of ohms law, the risks, safty precautions and battery safety involved with mechanical and hybrid mods and do not need lectures but my ears are open

I have been looking at the geekvape karma kit (cheaper option) wich received nothing but praise from my homework

Second option would be a KO by HHA with a goon

Please feel free to express your opinion and suggestions

Thanks in advance

All comes down to how much you wanna spend?

If you got the cash to blow you can hook yourself up with a bad ass comp lyfe mech for R4000 from Vape Cartel

But nothing wrong with the K.O mech and goon.
Thats what i use at home and no issues. I love it and it really is a awesome heavy duty good mod.

Props for the speedy response, im aiming to stay under 3k with 2 batts. That is a beautiful set up, out of curiosity,

dose the KO have any insulation inside the tube?

Dose the copper goon affect the taste at all?

Any comments on spring vs magnetic buttons?

And lastly, is that a hands tip? :)

Regards

The Goon is my favourite RDA and i wouldnt replace it on that setup with anything else.

There is no insulation inside the Mod so always check your battery wraps when putting in a new battery.

As for Spring vs Magnetic, The K.O uses a spring.

I find it more difficult to press than a magnet but it also feels more solid than a magnet.
But i do not think it makes any diffrence to the vape.

I have the Karma (my first mech)
And I have absolutely no problem with it whatsoever.
For the price, I doubt you will find anything that compares.

My findings regarding mechs so far, is get awesome 30-35A Batts. They are the Achilles heel of a mech, as long as you have a solid copper mech, and a decent RDA, that is where you would wish you spent more bucks.

Either way, you can't go wrong.
The vape lies in your build. I found my sweet spot at 0.23-0.25 ohm, but I can't go lower because of my Batts.
Vtc4 or the like.
Check mooch chart.

Good luck and happy Hunting

Iv just got the RigV3 and feel like an idiot for not going authentic the first time around. My advice is to buy legit from the get go and save yourself some cash in the process. I went for a Petri Tube Mod and RDA clone setup my first time around and sold it the next day thinking that TubeMods were not for me. Gave it another try with a legit setup and now it doesn't leave my hand.

I don't bother too much with TC and prefer just a raw hit. Only go Sony, Samsung, LGs and check out mooch's chart like @GerritVisagie mentioned above, and buy a few extra batteries and carry with you:rofl: I carry four batteries with me, lol. Your coil build can make or break it though, I build quite low and pulse vape mostly as I like my vape hot and enjoy dem clouds.

Lets us know what you end up with:)

I have been toying with the idea of getting my first mech as well, so this thread is quite interesting for me.

Personally there is a certain someone I'd like to pay a visit to if he has time and go through all the nitty gritty and such before I were to make my first mech purchase and start using it. Make sure I understand everything 100% first.

The Karma is a really attractive kit, mainly due to the price. I feel you'd want to start on a cheaper mech at first.
EDIT: The Karma also seems to have reverse polarity battery "safety" where you can place the battery in either way as well as the battery compartment is insulated so it should offer further protection for your battery if the wraps are iffy - not that you should be using batteries with iffy wraps on a regulated or mech mod.

I bought myself the Karma kit and haven't looked back yet. Its a nice size, good build quality, hits hard and with the RDTA / RDA option its very versatile as well. Bonus for the Karma in RDTA mode is that the tube does not get that hot as the heat transfer from the atty to the tube is blocked by the tank section.

The insulator inside the tube is also a bonus feature, not only does it save on weight as opposed to having a thick copper sleeve it also serves as a extra safety feature just incase you have a little tear in you battery wrap you are unaware of. But I always double check my batteries, liewer bang Jan as geen gesig Jan nie lol

Late response/update

I ended up with a karma kit, have been using it for 3/4 weeks, no regrets, great kit.

Cant wait for my leprechaun now :)

I'm currently using my favorite mech, AV Gyre clone, the authentic is way out of my price range lol. I'm vaping on a 0.15 build on a Samsung 25r and its chucking. In my experiences, these and Sony VTC are good batts for mechs.

Personally I'm having a look at one of these at the moment, but I'm still on the fence over whether I actually need a mech.

It looks stunning. For the price I would certainly give it a bash. If you are on the fence, it will niggle at you until you take the plunge.

It took me a while to get into Mech mods, and now I won't look back. It adds a nice different dimension to vaping. You can only buy so many regulated mods and RTA's. Always the same thing. It's like having an automatic car and getting a manual just for. variety.

Just the opposite for me. I started with mech's and still prefer them. The regulated tube mods wiggled in here and there, but not much regulated otherwise until I came to this forum where it seems to be mostly about regulated.

I consider my VapourArt GP PAPS w/Herons, Spheroids, SnP's and Senio's the best of my tube mechs... the Reos otherwise.

7 of 11, and some of the 33.....
