Let's make this pefectly clear. It is taxi drivers that causes these kind of statistics. I strongly believe that when they apply to become a taxi driver, they are sent to a secret academy where they learn to drive badly and annoy all other road users. They also get shooting lessons there I think.

I couldn’t agree more. The things these taxis do on a daily basis is borderline insanity. I couldn’t drive that badly nor stop in more crazy places if I put my mind to it!

As the article states - driver error, unroadworthy vehicles, speeding. Add the bought licenses, so even a cursory glance at the rules of the road is not even required, never mind any knowledge of it. That stuff is only for the traffic cops to know.
Speeding should actually reflect excessive speeding together with recklessness, not just exceeding the limits. 130Km/h is also 'speeding', but not nearly as stupid as doing 170+ on a generally busy or unknown road. Or a Quantum doing 140 on the freeway with tires so flimsy it needs night covers in mozzie season.
They forgot the ever-present entitlement - I have a flashy car and no common sense or skills, so we should be good, no?

We know taxi drivers always ignores all rules and are responsible for or involved in a fair amount of fatal accidents, but they are not the only culprits on the road. Most people just drive like idiots in general.
When not contributing to the fatalities, this is the average driver mentality:
Rules? No, they are guidelines for the weak.
That 'following distance' you keep on the freeway? That is a gap you kept for me so I can push in front of you with at least 1 meter to spare between me and both the other cars. You have brakes, so use them.
Mirrors are for make-up. No idea why there are so many of them on my vehicle as I don't even use make-up. To comb my hair? Only hair I got is on my back and in my nether regions.
The right hand lane on all highways are mine. I'l hog them like I want to, no matter how slow or fast I drive. Plenty of space for you on the left to pass me if you dare.
The painted lines on the road is just a waste of paint. If my car is traveling in the general direction I aim it at, everyone else can dodge me or wait behind me as I weave from side to side.
Road markings are the real-life version of racing lines in games. You have to drive on the line for the best possible outcome.
Indicators are useless. You should expect and know that I'm going to cut in front of you at the next intersection, why do I need to show you I'm doing just that?
Everybody knows that traffic lights that are not working has automatic right of way for the busiest road of that intersection. No stopping or caution is required.
Honking your horn because you think I drive like a twat automatically triggers my aggro button. Who are you to judge me? I bought my license with good money.
I am the only driver around these parts, so I'll cut corners like I want to. If you happen to be in my way coming from the opposite side, I'll allow you to dodge me as best you can. You are not supposed to be on the road while I am driving in the first place.
I deserve the extra 20 seconds I save by tailgating someone at a 4-way stop/intersection. I'm better than all you other idiots plus I'm disadvantaged, so the world owes me that.
Wait in line for a minute or three? Nope. This lane to the left of the yellow line was created for winners like me to move to the front of the queue where my reserved spot is.

In my opinion it is likely not just the taxis. I come across so many idiots on the road on a daily basis. One of my pet peeves unfortunately.
Watch what other people do on the road and always expect the worst possible driving from them. That way it won't surprise you if they do something stupid.
On second thought, rephrase that - That way it won't surprise you WHEN they do something stupid.

They are so desperately trying to push us into a socialist country.

Norway, a perfect example of socialism, got an unemplyoment rate of 3,7%. Here it's over 40%. And those that do work over half of them needs to make ends meet on a minimum wage.

First sort out employment, then start planning another feeding trough.

The search is still on for the 6.5-metre tourist submersible, named Titan, that went missing on its way to visit the wreck of the Titanic in the North Atlantic on Sunday, 18 June.
TITAN SUBMERSIBLE GOES MISSING
The vessel, operated by the US-based firm Ocean Gate, five members on board. It left for its mission in what should have been a two and a half hour journey, but unfortunately lost signal after approximately an hour and 45 minutes and has not been found since.
UPDATE...
The announcement Thursday that all aboard perished when the submersible imploded near the site of the iconic shipwreck brought a tragic end to a five-day saga that included an urgent around-the-clock search and a worldwide vigil for the vessel known as the Titan.

The investigation into what happened was already underway and would continue in the area around Titanic where debris from the submersible was found, said Rear Adm. John Mauger, of the First Coast Guard District.

Telkom has announced that account payment options for their customers will no longer include the South African Post Office.
The partially state-owned telecommunications company said dropping the state-owned mail carrier “aims to streamline payment processes” for customers.
Telkom acknowledged that the change may be unexpected and inconvenient for some customers still using the Post Office as a payment channel.

TOBACCO PRODUCTS BILL (closes 4 August 2023)

This was my submission.
We are adults, not children and no Government should feel the need to be "Nanny's" to the population. The Tobbacco Bann during Covid-19 Lockdown was just such an example of "Nannying" with no foundation or based on any research.
Children are going to experiment with all sorts of things. You will never be able to regulate children's curiosity. The way I see it, I rather see a curious child trying something 98 % safer than cigarettes.
All taxes on all "Sin Products" hurt the poor the most. An Alcoholic will still buy booze to the detriment of their family and the same goes for other "Sin Products"
Once and adult has reached the Legal age of an Adult (18) in this country, The government should stop trying to Nanny them and concentrate on providing safe water, a consistent supply of electricity and safe sanitation and sewage treatment.
The government should be be looking ahead already to prevent chronic water shortages that are looming just around the corner.
The government should also stop trying to implement first world technology on what is now a third world country. How can you make school registration electronic for a population that isn't geared for it, drivers licence system that can not cope, driving penalty system that doesn't work and fire arm licence system that doesn't work.
And then to top it all of the government has legalised the use of Dagga. I kid you not, what is the logic in this exercise.
