Shouldn't be treated as smoking analogues, but shouldn't be a 'free for all' either. E.g. Show some respect and courtesy for others in public spaces but not choosing to vape inside shops and malls etc.
I don’t think vaping should be treated exactly like smoking — and I say that as someone who’s logged plenty of time in airport smoking lounges. Nothing like trying to have a quiet vape while being hotboxed by a dozen Marlboro Reds. I switched to vaping to get away from ciggy smoke, not be forced to breathe it in again just because we’re lumped into the same corner.
That said, I’m not waving the flag for unrestricted vaping in public either. We’ve all seen those types — clouds the size of thunderstorms in restaurants, acting like they’re doing the world a favour. That kind of behaviour gives vaping a bad name and makes it harder for the rest of us.
Bottom line? Respect matters. If we want to be treated differently from smokers, we have to act differently. Otherwise, we’ll keep getting herded into the same ashtray.
