Pipe button position

Hi

I am having a conversation with a friend of mine about the possession of the button on the e-pipe, he is for the top button like the hammer mod and i like that you can have a side button in a variable wattage pipe.
We need some help please .. when does the people say .. top or side?

Top of the bowl feels like the natural position on a pipe for me.

I used to tamp it down by thumb all the time.

If wanted to choke it a bit i put the pipe in my hand and close my fist with the top of the bowl at my fingers so i can regulate the air by moving my fingers closer or further apart

Sorry im like 2,10m so my thumb is like a spade. But thats what im getting at....

@hands i just had a look at my dad's old pipe he had for 14 years. The only wear i can see is on the inside of the bowl

my newest pipe had varnish on it and i can see where my thumb was cause the varnish is gone. my old pipes did not but if i hold the pipe my thumb is in the same place.

I use to tamp my pipes with the thumb as well. top button is most comfortable for me.
