I have an ultimo tank and its great. Recently a few coils burnt out in few days, i only use the ceramics. The ones with the new spit mesh burn out quick and flavour is muted. Thinking of trying the rta deck.

Is it worth buying or should i just hope for better ceramic coils?

The Ultimo RBA deck is tiny, fiddly and only takes single coils iirc. I think you'd do best buying a proper RTA like the Serpent Mini 25. It is a much easier deck to build on and the purchase cost will soon be amortised against the cost of ceramic stock coils for the Ultimo. Once you have a decent RTA and the basic tools required to build your own coils, coil costs per month are just a few bucks. I would urge all vapers to get into coil building asap, the savings and improvement in vape quality are substantial.

I find it difficult to understand why anyone would use commercial coils (apart from new vapers). As @RichJB says diy coils are much cheaper, and vape quality is improved. Apart from this, with a little practice, it takes far less time to make your own coils than it takes to visit a vape shop.

Building your own coils also opens up the new area of RDAs and RDTAs. In my opinion nothing can beat the flavor and simplicity of an RDA.... and no leaking.

If you can change a plug you can build your own coils. If you keep the coils simple you can learn how to make them in less than half an hour.

Go for it. You won't regret it !

I actually got one of these last week.

While I got pretty frustrated with the initial setup (everything has to be screwed in really tight), once I got it up and running it is pretty decent. For the R130 or whatever they are going for it is a decent option as opposed to having to fork out for a new tank altogether. Flavour is good, but the tank itself seems to cater towards lower builds for big power and big clouds, not really an MTL kinda vape.

No leaking, reasonably easy to build on. As @RichJB says there are much better options out there if you're looking for an RTA.

I have an ipower 80w mod, the biggest i can fit is a 24mm tank without overhang. What tank do you recommend thats easy to build and wick with good flavour?

Have you vaped on the TFV8 with the V8-Q4 coils? If you do, you would then say otherwise. It's all I use now.
If you check my posting history, you'll find I was always "no no no no no" when it came to tanks and stock coils. That has changed. No nonsense and just refill now and then.

Even the Q2 baby coil is really impressive top notch flavour

The Ultimo MG RBA is an "ok" deck, nothing brilliant but it gets the job done. The biggest con is the near microscopic grub screws that are somehow supposed to hold a coil in place. I'd wouldn't bother.

Hi @zadiac . You may well be right about the V8-Q4 coils. I haven't tried them. I tend to use RDAs at home because I like the flavor and ritual. Even if the flavor of the V8-Q4 coils is slightly better I wouldn't be able to justify R85 per coil (sirvape). When I'm out, or a work, I generally use tanks or RDTAs at lower wattages (+- 30w). This is mainly because I don't like to blow huge clouds in public, and prefer lighter equipment to carry. I also don't take my triple battery mods out with me.

Perhaps the biggest problem with the V8-Q4 coils would be that if I really liked them I would have to retire most of my gear. Therefore too scared to try them.

Although I try to support local vendors, I also buy a lot from Fasttech and on my last order I threw in two packs of the Q4 coils (authentic) and paid Just over $16 for two packs of 3. That's 6 coils for $16! They will last me a long time as I wash my coils and re-use them again about 3 times. These new coils will last me around 4-6 months. I will re-order soon again to build up stock.

I've still got the original coils in the box as I've always preferred the vape from a RBA over a stock coil.
I'm going hunting for the box to test the Q4 coil out right now, if @zadiac says it's good then I'd be a fool not to try mine.
