Nemesis Mech Mod

ok, the video upload is almost complete...its 15minutes (sorry) of me just rambling and swopping batteries and attys and towards the end I remember to fit a kick to show the other tubes in use

Regarding switches working loose, this is true for anything grand vapor has yet made (private v2, m16 etc), so perhaps try this on your nemmies because I dont know who makes them, so ja, it may be pertinent:
A lof of these switches have a stupid design concerning the bottom pins, they have nothing to bottom out on when screwing them tight. Like, the females hole is longer than the male threaded bit. If you think of a nut and some threaded rod, the rod will thread all the way though the nut with nothing stopping it.
So on the private v2 and m16, which have similar switches, you need to put something into the hole to give the male part something to tighten up against, else your switch will work loose every two days or so. I always use a teeny bit of sponge, stuff it into the hole, fit the pin and see how tight it goes in relation to how high it goes. Repeat, try again, add a little bit more until the pin screws tight in the threads.
Ah, I'm kak at explaining.:)
Anyway, try taking one of those little washing up sponges, cut a small piece, like 5mm x 5mm off it, roll it up into a little ball and stick it down the hole that the pin screws into, then go stick the pin in and screw it up tight. If you use "just enough" it'll make the pin go tight at the correct height. If you screw it up, just get a tweezer and go fish the sponge out and try again.

Neme video, no need to watch it all, I do a lot of things a number of times and didnt edit it

Thanks for the vid, but I cant load it. "This video is private"

what exactly did you do that made it shorted and hit harder?

remove top cap with center pin, screw in atty, adjust center pin as needed, then vape?
I took out the beauty wrong as described in @Vern 's write up

better now? i set it to unlisted...I have some subscribers and this doesnt apply to them so dont want notifications going out about this video..its just for us and for this thread

Perfectly explained, just tried this trick on my M16, thanks @Vern.

excellent! I got so upset with my m16 that I did the sponge trick and also dremelled the top of the pin into a small slot so that I can use a screwdriver to tighten it down. You'll probably know you can tighten the pin down till the switch doesnt move, so why they thought this up is beyong me, as in normal use the pin is actually loose all the time. Dof.
add some sponge into the hole, grab the top of the pin, put pressure against the switch and tighten that sucker up, and if its all good, the switch action will be a lot smoother too, as the switch is now actually "tight".
enjoy

Indeed! And no more play on the locking ring when tightened as it tries to unscrew the pin :)

maybe we need a mech mod faq "things you need to know" section
people go on about clones...like "my m16 switch keep unscrewing itself" when the same holds true for the original, but there are 100000 clones and only 1000 (e,.g.) originals so the signal to noise is bad and clones get a bad rep.
Some things the clones are guilty of, applies 100% to the originals...they are faithful copies afterall. China doesnt "think" and improve, generally they just copy

Had some issues with the Nemi in 18490 mode.... That was until I got a 18500 battery and the issue was sorted out, if you wanna use it in 490 mode you use the second largest ring and you have to adjust the firing pin out a little, makes for a troublesome fire button, so rather use a 18500 than a 18490

Wow, @Vern, incredible insight there, many thanks.

Wonder how on earth new Nemesis clone owners are supposed to know all this stuff? Id love to know if the original nemesis includes instructions like you have given regarding the order in which things should be assembled/disassembled

May seem quite straightforward to a clearly experienced person such as yourself but to me, this is quite intricate

By the way, @Tom, remembe all the configuration of my Nemesis clone you did at the vapeMeet before you went to Germany? What were you doing there? Was it adjusting the switch? Does what you did relate in any way to what @Vern i posting above? My Nemesis clone is working fine, although i dont use it much
Nope. Was basically doing what vern described. Like matching the atty to the pin and removing that kick ring. Just basic setting up.

Makes total sense Vern, never looked at it that way, "signal to noise". It's so true, the first thing that pops in my head when I have trouble with my clone is "damn I wish I had the original". Thanks for the new insight. Methinks though that a "Need to know" section will just sprout troubleshooting questions and that could be better directed towards a specific thread pertaining to a specific product. Although I'm sure general insights would be valuable.

Btw....gave my Nemesis clone a proper toothpaste scrub just now. Using it right now. However, I will only feedback properly on a few days time. All I say now.... so far so good. ;)

day 2 of another attempt with it....no luck. its still the same. Unreliable firing. Anyone for another suggestion? Otherwise it will move for good to the back of the drawer...the one with the rubbish gear :D

send it to me Tom, I'll either sort it out or swop it
best offer I can make
and if you are in Germany it'll be quick and no customs etc

I'll end up learning a bit, and we can make a "toms mod is fixed" post for the forum

That is a gr8 offer from you! I think I must send it to you, however, you dont have to swop it. I just wanted it working again to have a clone device for work. I am in the packaging business, and often work in factories. There i dont want to carry a good mod. I would not be happy if the 180 Euro Enigma drops on the floor or gets lost ;)

tom, what is the exact problem, does the firing button stick or not make proper contact you think?

I can't imagine why it would not fire, there are only a very few things that could prevent that. And a multimeter should be able to quickly pinpoint the problem.

@Vern thanks for the video n post made it so easy for me to setup my first mech mod
