Hi everyone,

I need some guidance, I am not sure exactly which coils to buy for my mod. I see vaperite has alien vii coils.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it

These shadow cools are what I have in at the moment

Thanks

Those shadow coils look alright.

WHERE you place your coils in a dripper has a more profound effect than what Coils are in there.

post a pic of your build from the top and from the side and I’m sure we can help you out!!

Looks good.

Depending on wattage is how I choose coils. But if you want something similar, you have to look at the wires and material used.

Vaperite coils are not bad at all, but ni80 @ 26g x 3 going to take bit long to heat up. In my experience isn't going to work nice with dual coil at 70w. Besides that 32g wrap is too thick for me, sounds like boiling liquid in my mouth. 2 x 0.2 Ohms are 0.1 Ohm and that is a LOT of power required. I use about 0.24 Ohm single coil at around 60-80w.

In my opinion thicker wrap, more flavor, but more spitback. Personally no lower than 36 no higher than 40.

With dual coil, you will most likely need thinner cores, probably around 30g x 3. It is a bit hard for me to say for sure.

Thanks bud, I'm a noob when it comes to this.
Could you possibly link me to the coils you would recommend, even if not in stock somewhere, will assist me in finding them

Is that a Puma

Why are your Ohms locked in at 2.85, something does not look right.

Aaahaha and I was like, WTF is going on there! Nevermind ignore and carry on:clap:

Yeah it's the puma, not sure, it started that when I bought the dead rabbit for some reason or when I installed the coils myself, can't recall exactly.

Got my cotton bacon prime and new juices today and loving it. Just need some new coils now.

You got any suggestions bud?

Yeah, I think you may have locked your ohms somehow.
I would loosen the screws and then tighten again making sure there are no shorts. Then rewick.
Google how to change that locked ohm setting and get back to straight VW mode. https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/threads/puma-200w-box-mod-vapor-storm.865485/

Unscrew your tank while the Puma is on and then screw down again, it will come up with old/new on the screen. Press up button for new.

The coils look fine but no way that should be at that setting on VW mode.

The Puma is a good mod and works very well on any coils .01 upwards. Dual coils like yours should ohm out at between 0.15 and 0.3 can't see them being any more than that. It has a boost circuit for fast firing, this is probably why it is still working on that setting.

This is the best advice for getting the best out of any Atty. As @KZOR and @Amy also said the correct (best) coil placement is essential.

You could have the world's best coils, if such a thing exists, but without the best coil placement, you will never achieve the potential of the atty.

I would take humble coils and the correct placement over the best coils and bad placement any day.

DNA Aliens, best flavor coils i have used for dripping last year. been out of the dripping game for while now though,

With the current coil placement you have the airflow doesn't look like they are reaching the coils. You want to lift them up that the airflow hit them on the side so that some air scoops under the coil and up.

My coil placement is is in the picture

Thanks guys, after the advice I rewicked with my new cotton bacon prime and lifted my coils a few mm

Firing and tasting much better now.

Ohms are 0.12 and everything is good in the world again.

Just need replacement coils now. These are around 6 weeks old

I may order from air vape or another local store. Some sandvik ni80 aliens as in the pic. These seem fine to use

I just rewicked my Blotto.

DIY cotton bacon comp wire (n70) Twisted. A pair comes out at 0.21 on the mod. Work really well @ 25W.

Your 72 W leaves me very confused.

@Raikan007 Those coils are 0.14Ohm each. Planning on single coil @ 80w, or dual coil @ 180 Watt?

@Stranger It is the shadow coils, they are clearly complicated coils. 0.24 Ohm per coil and they do not look beefy, so...

Should I be hitting it far lower w or higher.
I'm sitting on. 12ohm

The coils themselves are. 13ohms as per the packaging.

Should I be vaping at 25w or like 105w

My cotton is drying out as well, it wicks perfectly but after a day or so looks dry.

You have me confused again.

Usually the packaging will indicate the resistance per coil. If you install two coils in the same atty, then you halve the resistance.

an example. Plain round Kanthal 26awg. 2mm ID. 4 wraps of this will give you 0.5 resistance

This will take around 11 W to power it.

Take exactly the same wire and parallel it or twist it so you have two wires making up the coil and now you have halved the resistance, using the same amount of wraps ...................... but you now need 24 W to power it.

If one coil is .13 and you have installed two of them, your resistance would be .13/2 = 0.065.

You will need a lot of power to drive those coils

I like to use the syringe analogy. Take a syringe full of fluid and put a large bore pipe on the end. It takes very little pressure to move the fluid. Use a thin pipe and it takes more pressure to move the fluid. Thinner wire and fancy coils made up from thinner wire requires more pressure (W) to push the fluid (power from battery)
