Bring a sign.
I'm a Vaper not a smoker!

Trying to gauge interest. How many of you would be willing to actually join and take part, even if it turns out more a symbolic gesture than an effective action (as if our government gives a shit)?

I'm just concerned of the blocking of roads. As far as I know thats illegal. And I don't want my car impounded at this stage.

There have been a few concerns highlighted such as this as well as aggravating the taxi drivers routes but the coordinators seem to be hashing this all out on the group chats, have engaged and are engaging with municipal members to gain permission for the protests etc. I'm sure the final plans will be more concrete in days to come. My biggest concern is the pandemic, not a good idea to have masses of people in the streets, I'd be staying in my car lol. A pure car road block would be more fitting but doesn't send as effective a message I guess, if any to this government with its many motives?

Blocking roads with vehicles is childish. If an ambulance needs to pass then what? Block the roads with your bodies and take note of how the Hong Kong protestors do things. Your fix isn't worth someone else's life. Especially in these dire times.

Well I mean I don't think they're planning to cause grid-lock for the whole day but I hear you. Road block causes chaos, people protests spread covid, court cases and online petitions do nothing. What do we do?

I can't agree on it being merely about getting our fix, it's about losing billions in tax revenue for a dodgy state purposefully proliferating the black market and denying a basic liberty to 5-11 million people on stupid logic.

At the risk of as i am in the UK not actually knowing what i'm talking about but from what i have heard of South African politics wouldn't it be more effective for everyone to put money in the pot and send a couple of stuffed brown envelopes to the right people!!!

You know exactly how African politics work.

What money? Gov has some, - and top 2 percent of the population. I can't even afford to stockpile {:

The problem is the blackmarket is not using brown envelopes, they show up with stuffed paper bags. We can not match that.

Regards

Let me put it bluntly

This idea is like pissing against the wind.

The ban on selling cigarettes and normal vape liquid will only end when the loans made by some people in the government to pay for their presidential campaigns are paid off.

We saw how effective the 15000 vape petition was for unbanning nicotine.

The only thing that could stop the ban would be a complete boycott of the illicit market.
No more than 10-15 days and the reasons for the ban would magically disappear.
However, I believe smokers will continue giving their money regardless of the price and our "benevolent leaders" will carry on squeezing them, even when the ban is finally lifted.

We're going to get squeezed even more down the line.
Government has taken a R100 billion Covid19 loan, with an option of R100 billion more, that has to be repaid.

My guess is increased sin tax, more fuel tax and VAT hike to 16%.
They'll probably leave personal tax alone for a year or 2.

You have my sympathies.
However if you own shoes and wear them, feel free to come to Cape Town. :)

Why always the wara-wara about shoes? Do I detect some shoecism in your posts? Don't come here with your anti-plakkie rhetoric, you bloody agent!!!

Not a bad swimmer but probably will be exhausted and need rescuing about a mile out from Cornwall, a little shy of Cape Town!
