Tough times for SA Vaping.

The poor ''popcorn lung'' horse has been beaten to death long time ago ,also LOVE the R20.000 p/a spent on e-cigs - not my annual vape budget by far - my juice comes to roughly R3000 p/a, plus new mod,[ plus minus R1000 x 2 p/a] = R5000 ,where did the other R15000 go - cotton and coils ???
R6693 for smokies !!!
Myself, R35.00 -avg price per pack- per day x 365 days = R12775
''Daar is nie pille vir stupidgeid nie'' -my late dad .

Wonder where the hell they find that 97.5% of vapers still smoke regularly. They probably tweaked a response where people said they were regular smokers before starting vaping.

My smokes cost me R2500 a month, x 12 that is R30k! I can spend more on vaping! Woohoooo!!!

Also the cost and usage model was base on info obtain from this site in combination of prices from local websites.
Not one EVP user was interviewed.
Hence the importance of the survey.

Interesting post. Let's follow the money trail (of the "researchers/scientists/bs artists" ) shall we?

This is the actual original post as copied and posted in this post. BTW great post @Vaping Saved My Life..

https://www.iol.co.za/saturday-star...e-vaping-ee5711c2-f6cc-4d18-82c0-0e923806d3d6

First who and what is ATIM that originally published the report and what they're part of?

https://www.atim.co.za/about-us/

I quote just this part..

The Africa Centre For Tobacco Industry Monitoring And Policy Research is an observatory that offers up-to-date information on activities and developments in the tobacco industry that could have an impact on tobacco control policies. It is one of the first three observatories which establishment was assisted by the Secretariat of the World Health Organization (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) (Convention Secretariat) and the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The UNION) to monitor tobacco industry strategies and tactics that undermine efforts to develop and implement tobacco control legislation.

Based in South Africa, the centre provides industry monitoring across the African continent, as recommended by the Guidelines for implementation of Article 5.3 of the Convention, and evaluates the impact of tobacco control policy, which shall be protected from the commercial and other vested interests of the tobacco industry. It is hosted and managed by the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University under the leadership of internationally renowned tobacco control expert Professor Lekan Ayo-Yusuf in association with a network of policy advocates and researchers.

As an observatory, it informs tobacco control academics, policy makers and advocates of the ongoing developments in both the tobacco industry and within the tobacco control community. It also helps to inform the broader public of the issues that plague this issue. This increases public knowledge and creates transparency in tobacco control policy processes, in line with the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC).

Let's just look at one it should do. So who and what are "the UNION"

https://theunion.org/our-work/tobacco-control

I quote just this part..

OUR PROJECTS
The Union co-manages the Bloomberg Initiative to Reduce Tobacco Use Grants Program, which awards funds to projects delivering high-impact tobacco control interventions in low- and middle-income countries. In 2019 The Union launched the Global Implementation Programme, which supports cities to effectively implement tobacco control laws, and we are a key partner in STOP, a global tobacco industry watchdog. Both projects are also funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies.

Could dig into the others and the "Bloomberg/WHO" tentacle $$s will undoubtedly feature as well.
Says it all..

Forget about the "war on terror" and the "war on drugs" . This is the "war on vaping" era now.

On second thought it would be very interesting to see if this "award winning" journalist , who really is only the messenger no worries, would be prepared to meet and actually discuss vaping and the actual vaping facts/science with one of the SA vape vendors, SA vape reviewers or a few of the SA vape experts perhaps and report he's findings and actual SA vape industry investigation/sources as well? Cover the other side of the story. I doubt it but let's see. Journalist or propoganda mouthpiece..

That's exactly what some of the most influential main stream media reporters and even a few AU politicians here in AU have done. They joined us as a small "minority" vaping group. Very outspoken pro-vaping as a tobacco harm reduction health measure as well as anti AU govt vape ban advocates for vapers and the vaping industry (jobs and $$s! ) now. Worth a shot? Just an idea nothing more.

And lastly if I may. More as huge thank you @CJB85 We are never too old to learn from each others. That's a given fact.

A few months ago I sent a FB messenger message to one of the very influential huge AU media reporters. Some interesting facts thing about the AU govt tobacco tax and their "fake propoganda" attack on vaping. All for $$s and no actual vape facts. But I also included this little quote from @CJB85 thinking it might catch he's eye. Who knows lets fight these govt bastards using their own govt "propoganda" system?

https://www.ecigssa.co.za/discussio...elivery-systems-bill-2018.t68437/#post-873249

And it worked! Ive never met this reporter or he me, he certainly doesn't know me and I certainly don't know him. But somehow he seemed it to be newsworthy. Sure thing a few days later he reported the whole vaping debacle thing on national TV news prime time. And he had "senior academic" pro-vaping guests with him. And he quoted the little @CJB85 quote word for word! WTF. Seriously!

Lesson learnt? These are just govt/health? "people" and nothing more. And nothing less. We can be angry, frustrated and even bitter about their vaping attack on us. It doesnt matter one bit to them. They are pathetic psychopatic narssisists. So we expose them! They want to be famous OK lets make them famous. Name and shame and show everybody just what they really are and stand for. Using their very own propoganda machine in the process. If enough p$ssed off vapers speak up they will eventually listen to us. For all I know many many vapers were contacting the media and some just decided to listen to our side of the story.

“I’ve observed that there are four groups of addicts in relation to the tobacco industry: the government is addicted to the taxes, the industry is addicted to the profit, the smokers are addicted to the nicotine and the health-care professionals or experts are addicted to forming positions based on opinions rather than science.”

I've got an issue with the whole 10km and 20km thing as well. I mean, if you put a dot on Pretoria CBD and you stretch it for 20Km, you are basically covering the whole of Pretoria (pic one)! Joburg almost the same (pic two)!

According to the stats from Crimestatssa.com, Pretoria CBD is number 3 on the top 10 of the worst crime areas in South Africa. As you can see from the 3rd pic below, which is a 10km diameter from Pretoria CBD, this means I am within 10km of one of the worst crime areas in SA! Holey smokes! I need to move!! Somebody call Stuttafords Van Lines or Pickfords or something please! I am too scared to use my phone right now!!

The whole proximity thing is BS anyway. Firstly, there is once again no parallel with cigarettes AND, there is are at least 5 shops ON every major university campus that sells cigarettes.

Agree with @ivc_mixer too, I challenge these researchers to drop a pin in any metropolitan area in SA and not be within 20km of a school, business school, technical or FET college, university or private learning institution.

Seriously?? But the packets of cigarettes are standing the racks full! Ridiculous!
Precisely! I posted the pic as an illustration of the absurdity of the whole "vaping is bad for you" narrative that seems so prevalent lately. No-one is looking at tobacco any more...

these F#$kers are winning, sad times

:UNHAPPYNESS:
We are a major threat to the money train, no more sales, and no more tax for goverment. These are massive opponents and almost unbeatable if we don't gang up against them
