The Vaporesso ARMOUR OCTA is now appearing at South African retailers.
This is a new-product specifications post, not a review. I have not tested the OCTA.
The kit is a 220W dual-18650 setup supplied with the 6ml iTank T Dual Mesh. It includes a 0.2Ω GTi Dual Mesh coil rated for 60–75W and a 0.4Ω version rated for 50–60W. The tank remains compatible with Vaporesso’s broader GTi coil platform, including the new 0.15Ω Dual Mesh option.
The important features are not the 220W headline.
According to Vaporesso’s published specifications, the mod has IPX8 water protection, IPX9K high-pressure-water protection, IP6X dust protection and 1.2-metre drop testing from 26 angles.
Those certifications and tests apply to the mod only under standardised third-party laboratory conditions—not the complete tank and mod kit.
Vaporesso has also introduced Battery Guard. The company says the mod cuts output if the two cells differ by more than 0.9V. There is charging-temperature protection that stops charging above a claimed 75°C, plus Overtime 2.0 protection intended to stop an accidental ten-second firing event and power the device down if it happens again within two minutes.
Battery Guard does not replace proper battery practice. Use a correctly married pair of matching 18650 cells of the same model and age.
Compared with the ARMOUR Max, the major compromise is the loss of 21700 support.
My own Armour Max has given me excellent dual-21700 endurance and survived travelling through Namibia with a Recoil R3 fitted. I often get roughly two days from a charge instead of charging every night.
That experience belongs to the Max—not the OCTA. I have not tested the OCTA’s endurance, sealing, 510 connection or durability.
The OCTA therefore looks less like an automatic replacement and more like a different choice: better published environmental protection and additional battery monitoring, but potentially less endurance.
The listed complete-kit dimensions are 146.3 × 30.8 × 55mm, with a weight of 362g. The global kit includes the 6ml tank, while TPD markets receive a 2ml version.
I would like to put one beside the Armour Max and see whether the protection claims, battery management, battery door and 510 connection survive proper long-term use. A supplied unit would earn testing, not praise.
Until that happens, the verdict is WORTH WATCHING—not “rush out and buy one.”
