So I got my first mech on Friday. One of these:

A wondervape 270 mech kit.

I was a bit concerned about not having the right RDA and fresh batteries so after watching more reviews than I could actually stand. I though this would be a alright kit to start with.

After getting home, battery went onto charge and left it there until it was charged.
When charged battery was reading at 4.2V, according to the manufacturer it is rated for 40A, but I think that is possibly on the generous side.

So I spent Saturday watching and reading reviews on the battery, and it seemed that most rated the battery closer to 30-35A. Using this I decided that assuming 30A would be the safest option and to not push past that.

Then came my rda setup, which was a dual coil build that was reading at 0.29Ω
Now came my highschool physics and after running the numbers though Ohms law I got the following:

At 4.2V: 14.48A @ 60.83W
At 3.6V: 12.41A @ 44.69W

I had taken 3.6V as the lowest I would run the battery, I am honestly not sure if this is the right cut off point or not?

But taking the above so far and having used the mech for a little bit everyday since Saturday, I have really taken a liking to mechs.

Is there anything else I may have missed above other than the 3.6V of the battery as the limit to stop?

I am by no means clued up on mechs, but still use them every now and then (I know that what I do is safe and have no desire to push it any further or build any lower). I think the biggest thing with mechs is really the battery rating. You were 100% to doubt the validity of the 40A rating. As a rule of thumb the guy to check out is Mooch, and he rates the battery at 30A...

Personally on Mechs I find that the vape starts getting unusable at around 3.8V, but that's based on nothing else other than the fact that the amount of vapor produced is too largely affected for my liking.

Same for me here, at the 3.8v mark I can taste a fresh battery is needed.

Silly question corner: Which color did you get @ASCIIcat ?

From what I'm reading so far, you are taking the right approach towards Mech's. really not much more info to add bar they are little addictive tanks that keep going and some how multiply.

Mechs are timeless IMHO

Hi @ASCIIcat , dont take this as the holy truth but in my experience on a fresh battery (4.2v) you will only deliver about 3.7V to the coil ( you can test the vape you get on your mech with the same RDA on a reg mod @ 3.7V)

From my understanding this has to do with the international resistance of the battery

Dose this mean you should build safe for 3.7V and not 4.2V ?

I honestly dont know!, i avoid building below 10% headroom @ 4.2v regardless as i find the battery life (and battery lifespan) suffers below 0.25 ohm

Kind regards

1st off i wouldn't recommend using ijoy in a mech. They are re wraps and what they claim to be is false as seen on the wraps 40A? Get fucked ijoy, more like 20A! You put people's lives in danger. I only use Samsung, sony, LG or Molicel on mechs. Anything else goes in a regulated mod.

I vape at 0.09 - 0.12 im not going explain the grey area about pulse and cdr ratings because karen will come in here and catch a fit. I have been on my 30ts for almost 4 years now in everyday use with these readings above. If it were a ijoy 40A, i can almost put it in stone those would have vented.

Just get proper batteries on any mech that is one thing not to half ass because you want to save money. Plastic surgery costs more.

Hybrids, thats another storie.
