Hi all
This review is also long overdue.
Have bought a number of times from VapourMountain. For those who don't know, VapourMountain is a local retailer based in Cape Town. It is run by Benji, also known as @Oupa on this forum. He specialises in his own range of ready-made vaping juices under the VapourMountain label. @Oupa is also a full agent/reseller of eCiggies, which means he stocks a wide variety of vaping gear.
I have bought and tried most of his ready-made juice flavours. I generally love them. A few of his flavours are my current all day vape. You can read my and other reviews of the VapourMountain (VM) juices in the E-Liquid review threads. This post focuses more on the retailer aspect than individual juices.
Since sampling most of the flavours, I have repurchased the ones I like a few times. I am based in JHB, so all orders have been via courier delivery. My purchases at VapourMountain have mainly been juice related, so I am not going to focus on the vaping gear aspect.
Knowledge and product - I think @Oupa is a master at juices. He has being doing it for a long time and clearly understands his field. His juices are really good. As I said above, about 4 or 5 of them are currently my all day vape. They are well packaged and labelled. Although the caps are not child-deterrent, they work very well for me. I just returned from a business trip and can say with confidence the bottles do not leak. I closed them tightly and put them in a zip lock bag in my check in luggage. They came out perfectly the other side without any moisture in the bag.
Variety, choice and availability - @Oupa has a good range of juices in his current lineup. Mostly fruity and dessert types but a nice variety. He offers them in 10ml samples and bigger 30ml bottles. The 10ml samples are perfect for tasting and discovering what you like. Took me quite a while to get through most of them. There are also DIY mixing kits available with additional flavours. I think the variety is ample for those that want to try out the DIY thing. VapourMountain is soon launching their new Legends range - more complex juices with tobacco flavours as well. That will be a welcome addition to the menu.
Authenticity - no easy way for me to know if what goes into these juices is guaranteed to be safe and of high quality, but I have to take @Oupa's word. He assures me that he only uses the best possible ingredients of the highest quality. They taste great and I haven't noticed any negative signs. @Oupa is also very pedantic about cleanliness and hygiene when mixing his juices.
Pricing is very good - his 30ml bottles in the current range work out to be a low R4/ml. This is about the lowest price I have found for locally available juices. In many cases it's a lot cheaper. There is no doubt that the price is good but what is amazing is the quality you are getting. At this price and quality it makes a sustainable vaping solution for me.
Service is good. @Oupa is always just an email away and is very helpful over the phone. I recall when I was new at vaping and was asking lots of questions (which I now think were quite "dumb"), he was very patient and helpful. Recently, when I was on a business trip in CT, I thought I was going to run out of one of my favourite VM juice flavours. No problem for @Oupa, he mixed me a bottle that evening and got it delivered to my hotel the next morning. Superb service!
Delivery - haven't had a problem on any of my deliveries. They take a bit longer from Cape Town, which is understandable. But for example, my last order was sent on a Friday and arrived here in JHB on the Monday morning. I can't complain.
Packaging - all juices are carefully packed in a sturdy good looking cardboard box with Leopard stripes on it. Seems like the vaping community likes the leopard theme
Bubble wrap and careful use of tape makes for a spill free experience. To date, I have not received any juice or DIY ingredients that had spilled in transit. To top it off, my name is on a label that seals the box. Nice touch.
Areas for improvement
- no web site - I know @Oupa is working on one to be launched soon. But not having a website is a negative. At least the juice range is always available on the VapourMountain section of the forum. The other problem of not having a website is that the ordering process is a bit disjointed. You email @Oupa your order. Then he sends you an invoice. It doesn't take long - perhaps the next day, but then by the time you get the invoice, you may be busy and you don't remember to pay. It's nicer to do it all at once, when you have the time. So having a website will solve the problem and probably make it much easier for him as well.
- with all the talk about the VM juices, I think there is not enough awareness that VapourMountain carries the full range of eCiggies gear too. I think the website will solve that. Always nice to know you can slip in some extra coils or perhaps even a new tank with your VM juice order - and save on the courier fee, not having to order these items separately.
Overall, I can strongly recommend VapourMountain as an excellent source of great tasting locally made juices.
