"Vaper’s tongue" is a condition where -- unexpectedly and without warning -- the vaper experiences a diminished experience of flavors during vaping.
In this article, we’ll take a look at this phenomenon in more detail

I get this when i vape strong pineapple or menthols a lot

I find its best to vape two or three different flavours - a toot or two of this one - then of another one - then my taste buds don't get used to it.
One needs to have two or more devices in use though ;-)

This does help with the justification of buying another device - lol

EDIT - and its good to have backups!

I havent had vapers tongue for a while now. What worked for me is as @Silver mentioned have about at least 3 diffrent flavours with you for the day. 1 menthol, 1 desert and 1 fruit and alternate throughout the day and you good to go.

I have for the last couple of years or so been vapeing on a ry4 menthol mix and with out much problem.A couple of weeks ago I decided to change it up a bit and treated myself to some premium ejuice,Canolli flavor. It blew me away with the flavor but after a few days I got my first case of vapers tongue in a long time.Frustrated to hell I tried the cures I know of, extra brushing the tongue and A.C.V.Also started using the menthol again but I can't get the wonderful flavor back from the premium juices (canolli, cinnamin doughnut and caramel creme) Frustrated is an understatement.

This seems to be happening a lot to me lately. So much so that last week I tasted grapelicous on an ijusts device and really enjoyed it.

Yesterday I went out and got a bottle, popped it into my baby beast and it seems it does not taste like anything I remember.

This is happening way too often and seems like a waste of money on juice :/

GoodDay everyone.

This seems to be happening to me way to often. Went out last week and tasted some grapelicous on an ijusts device.

Yesterday I go out and buy a bottle and pop it into my baby beast and it tastes nothing like I remember.

At this point it just seems like I'm wasting a lot of money as this happens without a lot of juices for me.

It's a bummer that this happens to some people. The idea is that you need to clean your taste buds, maybe try out some of these?

I take a few sips of room-temperature water to refresh my tongue. A sniff or two of ground coffee beans is also worth trying. The coffee-bean method is used by wine tasters, because one's sense of taste and smell are linked. That's why you can't taste your food when you have a bad cold. Blocked nose = blocked taste.

@Trishan Gounden And if you try it in your iJust S again ? Just wondering if the device / coil affects the taste. Still a Noobie myself so trying to find my way around this whole match-liquid-to-device thing.

Generally speaking, When I buy a new e-liquid, especially puddings, cakes or cereals, initially I think it is amazing, and that I have found the perfect juice. This is because it is a new unfamiliar flavour and in our minds we want to find that “perfect juice”.

Then a few days later I actually get repulsed by the flavour. I end up diluting it or blending it with something similar.

However, with fruity menthol e-liquid, I do not get tired of it that fast. I find I can also “mix and match” my commercial menthol based juices, like XXX and Panama, with my DIY Wild mint when I feel these are getting a bit monotonous.

There are very few serious vapers who vape one juice all the time.

XXX is my go to juice, and one that I have not got tired of for about 5 months now.

Menthol is so versatile. I believe it is worth trying to get used to menthol in order to prevent vaper’s tongue.

Thought I'd mention it here.

Don't know why. Don't know how, but I do not get vaper's tongue anymore. I can vape 100ml of one flavor until it's finished and every hit is a full flavor hit. I've been doing it now for the past month or so. I mix 100ml juice, let it steep for a week or so and start vaping it while I have a new 100ml in the drawer to steep. Day or night. I don't get vaper's tongue anymore. So awesome!

You and me both @zadiac! I haven't had vaper tongue for over 2 years now...

Cut a nice freshly sliced lemon wedge and suck it. Let the juices roll around in side your mouth to cover every piece of your tongue. If you have vapour's tongue, this will be a lovely experience. More importantly, it will cause your saliva to flow and "should" reactivate your taste buds. If it doesn't do this, then try another slice just because it tastes good

When I can't taste anything I vape, lemon is really sweet and juicy!

@Blends Of Distinction , dont you have a lemon flavoured juice in your lineup?
Maybe this would be good to try for vapers tongue...

I have it from vaping non Menthol juices. I just switched to my orange-mango-cream diy juice that has ice in. Voila, I can taste it again.

Maybe citrus has a big role in reactivating it all back to default.

I switch flavours often (@Silver that's why I vape so many juices in a day!) and in between the different flavours I'll have a puff or two of either Coffee or something Vanilla-ish. I find that both refresh the palate, but Vanilla in particular seems to work very well. Perhaps it has a neutralising effect?

Thanks @Hooked
I hear you on switching it up. Its a good practice for me too.
I find I crave a "refreshing" vape then a sweeter/tobaccoey vape - then a refresher - and so on.
Just in a hot car I have to have an icy vape all the time!
I think switching it up is very important for helping to prevent vapers tongue

I know this is a older forum but this is very informative. I believe i currently have vapours tongue because even my Flavair Mad Mango that used to have A LOT of flavour now seems dull and flavourless. Hope i can unvapify my tongue soon! Thanks for all the info

Or just smell coffee - that's one of the methods used by wine-tasters
