i want to know what are the main differences to the vape experience from using a fused clapton, alien or framed staple coil?

(Assume all good quality coils)

Has anyone done comparisons?
Also do you find certain types of coils suit different juice profiles?

I have absolutely no idea why but I get much better flavour off frame staples compared to Clapton’s and aliens.

I have not done comparisons, but tend to go back to twisted and plain SS for all profiles and it seems to work best for me.
What I do know is heat variation on coils tend to bring out different flavour notes.

I haven't done a direct comparison between fused claptons and aliens yet.
Between aliens and fraliens I have tested the same juice and the coils ohm out the same and are +- the same size. My comparison is on a juice I mix myself. Basically the fraliens give me a nice mixture of flavours in harmony while aliens brings out the top notes a little more. The aliens are general all porpoise coils for me they have handled fruits, bakeries, desserts and tobaccos well. I tend to vape more desserts than other profiles and the fraliens does them well. Basically my adv is a strawberry milkshake thing so the aliens brings out the strawberry a bit better for me while fraliens gives me a nice blend of everything basically the base notes which is graham crust and a few creams blended with the strawberry in harmony. Then one of my favorite coils is the staggered framed staple these bring out different notes than the others they basically bring out the base notes more for me so the graham crust and the creams become more prominent.

The few other things I have tried: interlocking aliens and stiched aliens do not do much for the flavour normal aliens gives me the same vape experience but the double stiched aliens I made a while ago seems to give a cooler vape at higher watts...

Something else that also plays a role for me is what you are using. I have been building these exotics for a while now and I have only been vaping them. Did a normal 26ga ss316 build for my ol16 and it was perfect better than the claptons and fused claptons I have done so far. This gives me the idea that different builds suit different rdas some just shine with the bigger exotics and others like the normal builds a bit better.

I am on the hunt for the perfect vape but it is an ever lasting qeust and sometimes I think by hunting for that vape experience I might be missing the great ones thinking there is always something better.

Like everything in vaping I think this is also a subjective and personal experience and what works for one person might not work for the next so one has to experiment and find what works the best for you.

The aliens I use moat often are 3x 28ga ni80 aliend with 36ga ni80 2.5mm 0.14 to 0.15 ohms in deul coil and the fraliens are 4 x 0.3mm ni80 bordered with 28ga ni80 aliend with 36ga ni80 2.5mm 0.13 to 0.14 ohms in deul.

Latest compression is with 4 x 28ga ni80 aliend with 36ga ni80 3mm 0.14 ohms and 6 x 0.3mm ni80 bordered with 28ga ni80 aliend with 36ga ni80 3mm 0.14 ohms
Top one is a quad core alien bottom one is the fralien :tmp-cam-734209484673148003.jpg

Some other comparisons 3 x 26ga aliens compared to 4 x 28ga aliens the quad cores win in this comparison better rampup and better flavor even though they are the same size the quad cores requires a bit less power to shine.

I couldn't agree with you more @Friep . We all look for something better and quite honestly I think that we often fool ourselves into thinking one thing is "better" than another.

Let's use the current coil debate as an example of this.

If an alien is better than a clapton then no one would buy claptons (assuming the same price and availability).

If an Alien is better for fruits then you would never use a clapton for fruits. You would be stupid to do so.

Surely the exotic coils can be ordered in some manner. We should all know that claptons are for fruits at low wattage and that framed staples are for desserts at high wattage.

Surely we can get an objective view on which coil is better for each application ? (and ideally by how much).

If this is not the case then there can't be much of a difference.

Let's look at another issue. Is there anyone on the forum who would be able to consistently detect the difference between two identical coils, if one was a cheap Coilology coil, and the other a "quality' coil ? (assuming a blindfolded test on identical kit) If the results are 100% correct over a range of coils I would always buy "quality" coils. If the results were 60% to 40% I would never buy the quality coil because the price difference wouldn't justify it.

@Resistance said that he prefers old fashioned round wire builds. About a week ago I was re-coiling my Wasp and looked at all the stainless wire lying around which I hadn't touched for months. I built a simple round wire coil and was amazed at the results. I kept trying to convince myself that I had just managed to find the perfect coil placement and wicking. This is not true because I bought the Wasp when it first came out and have coiled it many many times. I'm not saying that it outperformed the fancy coils, but it was definitely on a par with them. It is still in there and will be replaced with a similar build.

The thing is I don't build the exotic coils. I only do simple coils (round wire, mostly contact coils, sometimes parallel)

So I have spent hours and hours building loads of round wire coils with different gauges, coil IDs and number of wraps (and resistance). Also have tried different coil wire types (Kanthal, SS, NI80 mainly)

I have worked out what coils work best for me on my most used devices. And for what juice I like to vape in them. Most of my main workhorses vape the same juice or maybe two juices in them.

But when it comes to the exotics, I can't experiment for myself. I could buy a few different types but its much harder to get it dialled in. So that's why I'm hoping to get some ideas from folk that have tried different types.

I'm playing with Aliens and Fused Claptons in my Zeus tanks.

Alien coils gives me better flavor with deserts.

In all my RDA's (Recurve/Wasp Nano x2/Drop Dead/GR1) I use aliens. They ramp up fast, give great flavor and last of months

Built some coils after many many months of not building.

A bit rusty but here they are.
34 awg aliens.

36 awg aliens.

Wow! If those are when you “rusty”, I can’t imagine what they would look like when you “on form”. Very nice, indeed!
Some 38 way aliens.
Spacing is a bit off so very rusty in the 38 department.

@Christos doing diy? I think his account is hacked.
I do occasionally build coils. Doesn't happen often as I dont usually make time for these things.
Happened to have a day off :D
I just forgot to check out my concentrate order and am going to rather recoiling atties instead of mixing.

Not exactly sure what these are called but extremely time consuming to make.
Think they are framed staple something...
Anyways, too lazy to wrap a coil but here it is.
Border is 28 awg spaced claptons with 36 awg and its 5 pieces of 0.1x0.5 ribbon and then claptoned with 36 awg. All the wire used is ni80.

Made a tri core alien afterwards just because it's so simple compared to the coil I built.

That looks absolutely fabulous I really wish I could do this really I’d love to make a few coils

Wow @Christos !
That looks brilliant
Keen to hear how it vapes when you try it out

Just installed it @Silver.
The vape is pretty damn good.
I'm really enjoying this with high watts and one of my favourite dessert juices but the coil is most certainly a flavour beast!
Some pics...

These look amazing and awesome photos.

@Christos that is marvelous
Coil looks beastly
Must’ve been quite a pleasure to vape on it and discover it’s a flavour beast. Well done.
