Calling all Cthulhu tube mod owners....

I recently purchased the above mod from a reputable vendor and after a week of use it suddenly stopped firing. I checked everything I could think of batteries, tried different attys, tested for shorts. I even pushed the gold plated 510 up a little thinking it may not have been making contact but still no luck. Has anyone else with this mod experienced the similar issues?

I have checked and it seems like no vendors stock the replacement mofset chips.... my guess is the chip is fried... @KieranD @BigGuy is there any chance of bringing these in. I really love this little mod especially for my MTL setup and would hate to see it collecting dust just because the mofset is no longer working any advice would be highly appreciated

Regards

It's happened to me when I took the board out . make sure the button is coming into contact correctly with the switch on the board . I had to pull mine out slightly for the button to make the right contact with the button on the board . make sure you get the right clicky sound . hope this helps

This happened to me, however I only took the board out after it stopped firing to try and troubleshoot, made sure I put it in correctly with the button making proper contact and the click feels right as well. Still she no work!!

I was watching Todd’s Review of this Chthulu Tube mod, in his review he mentioned the screw that’s hold the board in place should not be over tightened or the mod would not fire right. But as you mention @mc_zamo you only removed the board after you found the mod was not firing anymore.

Sounds to me like the board must be faulty, not sure how old your mod is and if it would still be considered under warranty etc. Might be easier to simple order a replacement board from 3FVape as they do have stock at the moment, possibly consider buying spare for future use.

I have the mod for less than a week. I will be contacting the vendor to see if there is anything they can do to assist. i watched that same video from todd before i purchased the mod so i was aware of not tightening down the atty too much. Unfortunately there is no way i can test the board without a meter not that i would even know how but yeah. gonna wait for a response from the vendor and take it from there. i would suggest that anybody looking at getting this mod, should maybe think about ordering a few replacement boards as well just in case they have similar issues.

This was the main reason for me NOT to get the Cthulu Mod. Although it looks very classy, after seeing the review from Tod and the issues of the chip, I decided against it. I think ordering a few spare from 3F as @CaliGuy suggested might be your best bet going forward. Hope the vendor helps you with this matter and you can get it sorted ASAP.

@Dela Rey Steyn thanks for the input dude. have you ordered from 3F before? are they like faste.... where its a bit of a gamble maybe it arrives maybe it doesn't or it takes forever so its best you forget you ordered it and maybe you can get a surprise vapemail?

I have also had issues with my chip in my Cthulha tube. The little piece of plastic housing the switch just cracked and this was after about a month and a half of pretty light use. Pretty disappointing because this mod looks and feels really nice to useUntitled.png

geez after a so little use and the chip looks like that!!! damn, well mine looks brand spanking new and it doesnt work so i guess we in the same boat....

does the mod still fire though?

Yeah tell me about it, I am waiting to hear back from the Vendor for a solution. It kind of fires but the little button doesn't really have anything to push against because of the crack. So pretty much doesn't fire anymore :-(

No problem ordering from 3FVape, they ship to South Africa. I would recommend that you pay the extra $3 or $4 to use the PostNL (Netherlands Postal Service) reason being that with PostNL on average it takes 20 to 30 days to reach your local suburb Post Office and that’s with custom clearance and going through our Postal Sorting Center. I have never not received anything I have ordered from China, it just take some time to arrive and last year SA Postal Service has huge backlog so it took upwards of 60 days to arrive.

If you want it in 3 to 5 days you will have to opt for DHL Express which costs between $30 to $40.

Don’t use FastTech unless you know how to work around the Website Shopping Cart issues that doesn’t allow orders to South Africa. There is a work around but trust me it’s simpler to just order from 3FVape.

My button got messed after 3 months of light use and I'm over the mod, loved it and was a beaut while it worked but now all I see is its 600 in school fees

Just check what version of the mod you have. There was an issue with the chip, which was replaced at some point. Cthulhu also said they will send the replacement part to everyone who did order the old version.

Here's a link to Todd's vid on the firing issue, there's some talk about the fix:

Here's the mod's page: https://www.cthulhumod.com/cthulhu-tube-mod/ - it says there if the mod was ordered from Cthulhu after 18 Feb 2019 you'd have the upgraded one, unfortunately you have no idea when your supplier ordered.

Here's a link to the replacement chip - it's only $4.40: https://shop.cthulhumod.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=98

However, I am sure if you can ask them, show them yours and explain the issue, they will send for free. On FB they have been praising Cthulhu on their aftermarket service specifically in this regard.

Here's Cthulhu discussing the changes of the new chip, and sure they are sending it everywhere:

Sorry for all the links, I don't have sound where I sit right now.

I really wanted this mod. But explain this to me. How did they go from this:

So just received good news from the vendor. seeing that its less than a week old they have advised that they will swop it out for me:party:. lets just hope the next 1 lasts a bit longer. im still thinking of ordering a few spare mosfets just in case.

Hi we have ordered spares just waiting for them to be shipped.

Hi guys, vapers corner do stock the chipsets.
Is it the new Mofset? I have the Mod but it's the upgraded one which doesn't have the issues that Todd found! I do believe the Mofset for it only became available separately after the upgrade so anyone with the older device could upgrade!

@Timwis I do believe it is the original mosfet & not the upgraded one.
