Does anyone know where I can get some Mooch-approved 18650 batts in SA?

And which batts are good these days (not for sub ohming etc - just for reliability/longevity I suppose)?

Any suggestions welcome, thanks in advance..

I can concur that Howell Li-Ion cells are indeed good. I recover a lot of 18650's from Laptop batteries and EV packs for use on DIY projects. I get them from a range of sources and obviously have to be very careful with the testing and recovery process. On Tuesday picked up six Howell 3000mAh cells, what they were originally used for i have no idea.

The pack was still in it 3S2P configuration. After careful disassembly, I tested the voltages. One cell was toast, 0.35v and the very low resistance of the multimeter was discharging it (basically you can see the voltage slowly decreasing on the multimeter). Not even worth recovering, so into the recycle bin it went. The other five measured around 2.36V, badly discharged but can be rescued if you're careful. So these went onto the recovery process. I won't bore you with details here, once i got the voltage of each cell up to just over 3.0v i put them in a 4 bay balance charger and gave them a good balance charge.

They came of the charger at between 4.19V and 4.20V which was impressive to start with. I then discharged at 1A and was pleasantly surprised.

All cells still have over 85% of their original capacity and their internal resistance according to my calculations averaged at about 0.037ohm.

I recently recovered some Samsung 30Q's and the results where only slightly better.
