Hi guys, I currently have an mvp 2.0 and aerotank original, which work great, but while the mvp is reliable the aerotank is not and leaks i change coils often, build my own coils , get burnt taste, i have been doing this for months, i hate when the burnt taste comes and it wont go away, ive done research, and it seems to get the best flavour and vapour without much hassles, i should get an rda or rba and a mech mod, the reo in particular. however, i cannot afford a reo anythng right now. so i would love some suggestions/combos,and other options, also i would like be able to change voltage, i have a budget of R1000.00. i just a want a decent vape, (perhaps i dont and its the liquid i use, thats vapour mountain liquid.) also suggestion for retailers to get my stuff from, vape king delivery to my area is killing so they are out of the question.

@Agent X erm, not too sure about vendors and whatknot.

But i'd recommend going cheap initially, maybe pick up and iGO-W and a cheap kayfun clone. and as mechs go... something like a K100 would be a good first mod i think. I'd stick with cheap clone stuff, till you've tried a fairly large variety of kit, so that you know what you like (pinky fire, bottom fire, index fire, RDA, RTA, etc...)

Buying second hand off the classifieds section would probably give you the best bang for buck, to get a decent selection of hardware to play with.

Best piece of advice i can give, is to start cheap, and find out what you like. Everything i've tried so far is awesome! till i try the next thing :p

If I can suggest something.... Go for any mech that is copper. I actually bought the black copper stingray from Vapeking and the black paint started coming off so I sanded it down and now I have a complete copper tube. I suggest copper because it has the lowest voltage drop which I didnt think to much off until a friend got a stainless nemi and its actually quite big. The next thing I suggest it getting a kayfun or an Orchid. I have the orchid on my copper stingray now and let me tell you it is a winner. It has a four post build deck with 4 wick channels unlike the kayfun which has two of each, it has two airholes and has the perfect draw for me. Then it has a 2-3ml tank depending on how you fill it. I had a dripper before this and its cool and all because of the clouds and what not but when you want an all day vape and you have no reo with a bottle attached to it this is your best option. Its convenient and each to use

I like the "baby steps" approach, mechs can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. My advice is hold on to the MVP and get a Kayfun RBA to start with and get used to building you own coils, this way you can experiment in relative safety because the MVP won't let you fire a coil that will pull too much current or has a dead short somewhere. Once you've got the hang of it you can move to a mechanical mod. This should also help with your budget as you can get the RBA with some wire and wick for round one, then get your mech, batteries and charger with your next order.

For the Aerotank, I'd suggest that you look for the new style Kangertech Dual Coil Unit in 1.5 or 1.8 ohms. The wick is not visible in these and they have slits on the side for the juice feed. I think it's white packaging on the new style vs. the black packs for the old style. Don't get the SubOHM series as these are just on the border of the MVP minimum supported spec at 0.8 ohm, so it might refuse to fire on low resistance coils.

They definitely outperform the older style where the wick was visible on the side. The old style coils also tend to leak out juice everywhere when the wick deteriorates. I've not seen any vids on rebuilding the V2s, so you might consider that a drawback.
I don't have the Aerotank myself, but most guys swear by them vs the Nautilus / Nautilus mini which I do have. My mini Protank 3 also use these coils and I can vouch that it works like a charm.
Even if you abuse the coils and change them every 2 weeks, a five pack should still last you 2 1/2 months at around R140 for 5.

As far as juices go, I'd say that most people here that used them, would swear by Vapor Mountain's service and their juices, so stick to what works for you in that department. A crappy atty / coil will spoil any juice.

If it's only the burning taste & constant rewicking that puts you off, just bear in mind that you'd have to do that on an RDA as well. At least they tend not to leak when the wick deteriorates.
For a budget of R1000, you should be able to get any of the Kayfun / Kayfun Lite clones from most of the vendors. Also check out the Classifieds section of the forum. You can get some good deals on equipment that other guys want to sell when they upgrade or scale down their 'Vape Porn' collections. I assume you already have silica wick / cotton & Kanthal of sorts as you rebuild the Kanger coils, but some 28G would likely be the best starting point for an RBA.

Mech mods will not allow you to change voltage, and the vapor & flavor will drop as the battery runs down. You will also need an extra charger & some batteries that will likely set you back around R260 for the charger and around R200+ per decent 18650. Only look at mechs when you want to try RDAs where you build the coil(s) to your flavor preference. There is nothing wrong with a good regulated mod, especially if you are not going to compete with a coal-fired power station on Eskom load-shedding days.

Spend some time browsing the recent threads in the Newbie's Corner where guys had similar questions about what they should go for. There are some suggestions there for good combos at a fairly decent price. Just remember all the 'extra' costs for batteries / charger / cables when you look at these.

My suggestion would rather be to build up more tanks to rotate juices / flavor with initially, before splashing out money on another mod. Mini Protanks are a good option and uses the same coils as what you have currently.

I still use my MVP 2 with the Nautilus mini daily as my main work horse combo even though I have 2 other mechs and another 50W capable device as well. I normally run it at 8W and seldom feel a need go to above 11W where I need to switch mods.
