Unboxing the device looks as follow:

Opening the box, you are greeted by the beautiful style of the Aegis range MAX 100w. As with all other Aegis devices, the style is the same with rubber covering the whole device and the metal cover folding around the device. The metal cover has the GeekVape Aegis name engraved into the mental and is no longer on the rubber mold.

The Aegis Max comes with the Zeus Subohm tank which i personally love and have used before. Similar looking to the Zeus X and MESH, the style has not changed much and the subohm tank uses the same airflow design as with the other Zeus tanks being a top intake with the leak proof design.

The Tank comes pre-fitted with a Z2 Coil 0.2Ω that is rated for use between 70~80W. Spare in the box is a Z1 Coil 0.4Ω, Rated for 60~70W usage. The coil is a PNP style coil that pops into the bottom of the tank once the base has been unscrewed.

The flavor on the ZEUS Subohm thank is out of this world good! Same with the previous silver one i had, i benched my RTA's and used the subohm tank until the coils were finished because the flavor and draw is just that good on both bakery and fruits as well as tobacco profiles.

The draw on the subohm tank is similar to the Zeus X and provides a smooth but very slight restricted DL draw which i love. Changing the airflow tighter does not produce any whistling which is a plus!! Combination of both direct top airflow and the top-to-bottom airflow creates massive flavor and vapor boost while preserving its leakproof protection element.

Inside the spares box, you will find a nice flat USB cable that is still not a C type which is a little disappointing but i wont be using it as i charge my batteries using a external charger for best results. You receive a spare straight glass for the tank, a seal replacement kit, extra coil and then the battery door tool and the coil tool.

Also included is the 18650 battery adapter which allows you to use a 18650 if you dont have a 21700 battery.

Here you can see the beauty that is MAX! A excellent looking kit with all the fine little touches that include the rubber coated body, The leather grip with orange stitching, The glossy front with light switch fire button and power buttons.

The MAX is slightly bigger than the SOLO due making space for the 21700 battery which is probably the best part of this MAX!

The menu and settings on the MAX is the same as the SOLO and Aegis Squonk showing the power, coil resistance, puff counter, Volts and Amps. Clicking the fire button 5 times will power on/off the device. Clicking the fire button 3 times will enter the settings mode where you can change between Power/Temp/Bypass. Holding the + and - buttons in together will lock the settings menu restricting setting changes but still allowing vaping.

Holding the fire button and +/- buttons in together switches off the display of the device and when the fire button together with + or - is pressed, you can set the brightness of the screen higher or lower.

The bottom of the device has the usual battery door that is quite tight to ensure that it seals 100% to make it IP67 approved.

Flip up the little ear on the battery door and unscrew to insert the battery. The 21700 batter is a perfect fit. The battery adapter together with the 18650 is a little loose but does not rattle once the battery door is sealed.

The Subohm tank uses the same method of unscrewing as all other Zeus tanks with the two kidney shaped ears that lock the top cap in place and only takes around half a turn to remove or fit back.

Nice big filling ports can be seen on both sides making filling easy and mess free however it does have a small well in the event that you overfill that stops the liquid from spilling over.

Pro's
  • Biggest one - 21700 Battery with 18650 support
  • Great subohm tank with excellent flavor
  • Long Coil life (Dependent on liquid used offcouse)
  • Looks absolutely great and sleek with modern design
  • Easy to use menu and settings
  • IP67 providing shockproof, waterproof and dustproof features
  • 30mm Tank will fit with ease with no overhang
  • Long lasting battery life due to 21700
  • Easy coil replacement PNP style
  • Spare Glass and spares a bonus!
Con's
  • Does not have C type USB port yet, not the biggest con but its about time.
  • 1.5A Charging rate (Not that i would recommend charging using the USB but some users might not have an external so charging will take long.

Verdict:

I absolutely like this kit because of the size and the biggest factor being it takes a 21700 battery. I have several of the Aegis range devices and the Squonk using a 18650 battery does not last long and both the Squonk and Aegix X being big, they are a little too big if you know what i mean. The MAX fixed all these issues having battery life now from a 21700 battery, Its small so its easy to carry around and use daily or put in your pocket as its not a bulky device. The flavor of the Zeus subohm tank is really good! Like really really good! The MAX comes with extra spares, and even makes it possible for users that have 18650 batteries to use it but i would recommend getting a 21700 like i specially ordered for this device. The fact that this device can go up to 100W is probably great for some but for me, i aint to fazed as i always find myself around the 50-60W on most of my tanks and devices. This is really a great little device with lots of power, fast firing and good battery life! I can see myself using this as my daily for a while!

Thank you for reading my review and please feel free to leave some comments!

Nice review @StompieZA , looks like a solid one. I have the old 26650 Aegis, old bulletproof, and a Baby one, both work extremely well. May be time to get a replacement soon and was looking at the Solo, but this may be just what the doctor ordered.

Thanks bud!

Yeah the 21700 makes all the difference and the battery lasts me a whole day whereas with the 18650 i had to carry spare batteries.
