On to the X217 itself! The review here is my own views after using the mod over the last 4 days.

First Impressions

Upon opening the box, everything was neatly packaged, the box looks great and looks looks like a premium high end vape. The mod comes with two battery adapters which i was super happy about because i can use my existing batteries with this mod and don't have to buy the new 21700 batteries. The X217 looks and feels premium and expensive. The build quality is great and the X217 has this solid feel to it! Even though there are plenty of different colors that will be launched, i got the chrome metal which looks great but fingerprints are the devil to this mod. Luckily it all just wipes off without a problem. The carbon fiber side inserts as well as the resin parts makes the X217 stand out and gives it so much character. Everyone that saw the X217 over the weekend only had great things to say and compliment it on the looks!

Using the X217

The first thing i noticed when comparing the X217 against my old Sigelei Fuchai 213 is that it uses the power much better. The X217 hits harder and heats the coils with much less trouble. When compared to my 213 at 65W, the X217 seems to just work better, almost like it needs less power to give the same power and hit and i take it this all comes down to the new GENE chip set.

The menu and layout on the screen is great, its easy to navigate or see the coil information on the screen without any of it being squished to make fit. Changing between power and temp mode is only 3 clicks on the fire button away. The menu/function menu is also found by pressing the fire button 3 times and is almost hidden away.

The breathing LED which looks great can be switched off in the menu as i know alot of people dont like LEDs on mods. You can change the color to one specific color or use the rainbow color that keeps changing. I have already switched this function off. Along with this the X217 comes with 8 preloaded backgrounds which is nice...but i hope one would be able to upload your own instead of using the preloaded Cat or Rose lol. I would guess that there might be interchangeable side plates available after launch as they are held in place by two small hex screws.

Like previously mentioned, the X217 is solid and feels heavy but is very comfortable to hold and use. Its only slightly bigger than the Fuchai making it quite small for a 21700 mod.

Navigating the menus of the X217 is simple and straightforward:
  • 5 clicks of the fire button to turn on and off
  • 3 clicks to cycle through to the next mode (3 modes total: Power, TC, and Settings)
  • When in a mode, hold + and – to enter that mode’s menu (settings mode adjusts the mods settings)
  • + and fire to lock the mod (complete lock, not just adjustment buttons)
Pro's
  • Great build quality
  • Great color options and love the chrome
  • No button rattle
  • Nice centered 510 pin
  • Big tanks will fit great, makes my Aqua Master look small!
  • Adjust by voltage or wattage
  • Simple and easy to use menu
  • Battery door is easy to open and swap out batteries
  • Battery adapters included and 18650 works great.
  • Bright and large color screen
  • Nice LED lights with option to switch them off.
  • Battery compatibility (21700 / 20700 / 18650)
Con's

Not many that i can think off but here goes
  • Carbon inserts looks to be sticker, scared that it might show signs of wear or peel off.
  • Mod is a bit on the heavy side, think it would be even heavier with 21700's
  • Slight battery rattle when using the adapters, only really heard when shaking the mod lol.
Conclusion?

Overall, this is a great mod and Voopoo did a fantastic job with this mod. With my 18650s i mange to get around 8 hours use on 65W and i reckon this mod will shine when used with 21700 batteries which is in the pipeline (Bit expensive at R270 each) It is way smaller than tripple battery mods so if you need better battery life than a dual 18650 then this one might be for you. I cannot comment on the TC mode as i only use Power but i feel that this mod kicks better and heats the coils faster with the same batteries when compared to my old fuchai. As a whole, the X217 with its good build quality, the nice weight and feel, its color screen, as well as watt curve and voltage mode, is a solid choice.

Would i buy one with my own cash? Hell Yeah! its awesome!

Forgive me if my review was too long...This was my first ever!

Thank you @VOOPOO for the competition and choosing me as a winner! I could not have been happier with this as a new mod seeing as i was due for an upgrade!

Cheers,
StompieZA aka Renier

Ok lets cut to the chase and see what I have to say about this mod after 3 days of usage.

My verdict:

I was absolutely blown away when I opened the box. I stared at it for a few minutes, afraid to pick it up and mess the beautifully polished body.

After unboxing it and putting in my 2 x 21700 batteries. Then I spend some time getting to know the mod's functions. As usual 5 clicks for the on and off function. 3 clicks to change modes - from Standard to TC then Function (Not sure what it is for). So that's pretty straight forwardly simple.

I used my OFRF Gear RTA (which was a gift from @lesvaches). The mod will ask if it's a new or old coil, I had no idea of which button to press as there's no indication of which is - and which is +. That's a con as you want to choose the right answer if it's a new coil. Thing is that also if you choose new coil, it auto-adjusts the wattage. Also another con for me as I don't want the mod to automatically assume said wattage for my RTA and just keep it as I set it. So best answer if you don't want anything changed, just say no to keep the old coil settings and it will stay the same.

Ok so you want to hear something good about this mod. Well here's a laugh. I nearly choked on my vape as soon as I pressed the fire button. Damn, that thing is much more powerful than your grandma's voodoo.

voodoo.jpg

More pros - I love the resin fire button. It's beautiful, it's simply stunning and feels great too. The body is very shiny, like @StompieZA has mentioned it's a finger print magnet but it's not a big issue, easy to polish off. Wax on, wax off, as they say.

Last of all, you swear the battery life would be pretty much the same as across all mods. Not in this case. I had 2 x 21700 batteries in and was very surprised to find that I went well into day 3 without the need to charge anything. Sure, having a low wattage helps but compared to my Pico 21700, you can't even really compare as the charge lasts much longer in miles. A single 21700 Pico battery lasts me at least a full day before I need to recharge it. It's AMAZING!!!

Oh by the way, this mod design is beyond words to describe how I feel about it - it's more than awesome, more than amazing. It feels strong and sturdy. Granted I've only had it for a couple of days so I think I need a full month before I can speculate on the quality of it, which I will give feedback in a month's time. But it's quite powerful and gentle enough to handle a small RTA. I'm definitely blown away by the Voopoo X-217 mod.

Thank you Thea @VOOPOO for such a awesome mod...

Nice review.

Just a note. The Omni 4.0 is supposed to have a 0.001s fire speed so that would have to be the fastest?

I just copied and pasted specs from the website so I really don't know in terms of speed faster than light unless I'm entering a wormhole teleporting through a space time continuum :D

Nice Review!!

The function is the settings menu. When on function, hold in the plus and minus together and you will enter the menu option where you can do the following:

-Switch off the LED strip or change the colors
-Set date and time for the watch
-Change the background pictures
-Change the brightness of the screen
and some more...

You can also change the Clock type/look. When the clock comes up after not using the mod for around 30 seconds, use the plus or minus buttons to scroll through different clocks.

Thanks @StompieZA

I had to do a bit more research as your review said you could turn the leds off. Then that's when I discovered another menu of stuff.

Turned my leds off as I wanted to see how long this time my batteries will last.

Hi @RainstormZA

I have moved your review and subsequent posts to the existing thread reviewing this particular device.

@StompieZA - I changed the title to just Review instead of Stompie Review.

Reason is that in the review subforums we should try stick to one thread per device. Otherwise it makes it very difficult for readers to find reviews on a particular device if they are scattered in various threads.

So if you are reviewing a device and there is already a thread for it (just search on thread titles using the search function) then please use the existing thread.

You are welcome to repost the review in your dedicated Stompie or The Deaf Vaper thread in the Reviewers subforum - or just put links to the actual review here.

Hope that makes sense -

It's been more than a month now. There's another issue that I came across with this mod. It's not reading my coils accurately and when the batteries are halfway, it randomly keeps telling me to check my batteries, even though there's more than enough battery power.

Say, in the Gear rta, my coil reads as 0.33 ohms on the Pico 21700 but in this mod, it reads 0.13 ohms. Very strange and it still operates as if it's 0.33 ohms.

I really hope @VOOPOO comes up with an firmware update to fix these issues because this is a really nice mod to use.

We are talking too fast, once we got to devices that had no noticeable delay that was fast enough, i have devices that fire when you just tap the fire button when using the menu system or the 5 clicks to turn off, that's just annoying.

Are these problems that have just developed? i haven't had these issues myself. In your review it's reading 0.35ohm and i see your batteries are low but no mention of it's telling you to check your batteries then.

Yes after changing the maat tank for the gear rta.

Shortly after I posted that, I got the check battery warning. The batteries were at about 20% or 30%
