I recently won the new Voopoo 2 Mini Platinum in a competition on the Giveaway participation and notification thread, kindly run by @Hooked. After winning I was asked by Voopoo if I would mind getting the Voopoo Drag 2 Platinum edition instead as they were out of stock. Not wanting to look a gift horse in the mouth I agreed. Unlike many other prize givers, Voopoo sends their prizes via DHL so I received it in less than a week. Immediate plus point for Voopoo here.

Brief Overview

The Drag 2 Platinum Kit is essentially an addition to the Drag 2 Kit which was introduced several months ago.

As the name indicates it comes with a "platinum" finish. Voopoo claims that this is a non-fading and scratch proof shell. The kit comes with the UFORCE T2 tank which has a perfectly matching platinum finish. The rest of the features are similar to those of the basic Drag 2.

The Drag 2 is a great improvement over the original Drag. It is smaller, has more rounded edges, is substantially lighter, is higher wattage (177W), and has an improved Gene chip.

My opinion of the UFORCE T2

The Platinum version looks great to me. As we all know beauty is in the eye of the beholder so I
leave it up to you to decide. I must add that since they mentioned the "transformer" inspiration I can see the influence in the tank and the mod. I have seen a couple of the transformer movies but wouldn't call myself a fan. I don't understand the current trend of adults regressing to the point where they even dress up as superheroes, but I guess you don't care about my opinions on that matter.

I must admit that I "outgrew" the pop-in coils years ago but recently tried the Artery Hive Tank Clearomizer with it's 1.5 Ohm mesh coil. It truly shocked me with its great flavour. These coils have come a very long way since the "old" days.

The UFORCE T2 is compatible with tons of coils and the flavour is surprisingly good. If the cost doesn't bother you then these tanks are almost as good as RTAs and in some cases even better.

A big pro with this tank is that there are four glass variants.

Vape King is selling the UFORCE 1 tanks. Hopefully, they will get the type 2 tanks.

Tons of airflow. Great matching drip-tip (or your own 810) easy fill.

My Opinion of the Drag 2 Platinum Mod

I received the black ink version (number three above). It is perhaps the most conservative of the colours but I really like the resin panel which I have.

Voopoo claims that the Platinum finish is scratch resistant and non-fading. I obviously cannot confirm this but it seems to be great quality. This option might be attractive to those of you who had problems with the paint on the original DRAG. The finish is brighter (more polished and shiny) than it appears in the photos. It is not nearly as much of a finger magnet as I had thought it would be. A bit of bling but not over the top. If it solves the paint issues this is a winner.

The corners have been "rounded" but are still not truly round like, for example, the Delta. It does, however, fit comfortably in the hand.

Nice clicky buttons and very strong magnets on the battery door (platinum side of mod).

I have got used to the larger screens in more recent mods and the "old fashioned" small screen on the Drag 2 Platinum does bug me. I am oldish and these tired old eyes of mine need a bigger screen, preferably in colour. The screen is also rather dim.

I (my wife) took the above photo to illustrate the brightness of the screen. From left VT Inbox, Drag2 Platinum, Delta, Hive (I love the Hive screen....great mod).

As we all know by now the Gene chip is really good. It fires almost instantly and has become well respected (apart from the Pulse saga). The new Gene.Fit chip apparently took 15 months to perfect.

The new Fit mode gives you three settings, each one a higher wattage than the previous one. Fit one is supposed to save you on battery life (which it will). Fit 2 is your normal flavour setting, and Fit 3 is for producing clouds.

In essence, it boosts the wattage in three steps. I would estimate around 10W increments.

This mode is designed to work with the UFORCE tanks and coils. I tried it with an RDA and it seemed to work OK.

The big question is why would you need these features? If you are in power mode it is easy enough to lower or raise the wattage to get the same effect.

My only suggestion would be that if you are driving it is easier to drop your wattage by simply pressing one button without having to check the wattage. Likewise, if you wanted to produce smaller clouds you could drop from level three to level one (to prevent annoying people ?).

Just a side note. Your friend and mine, Jai Haze couldn't tell the difference between F 1 2 and 3. I can, and all the other reviewers that I know can.

According to Daniel on DJLsb Vapes (YouTube) it fires with unbalanced batteries. He also says that "...this is fine because it doesn't fire when one battery is at the low-level cutoff". I am no expert on battery safety but does this imply that you could get away without using married batteries? If so this is a great feature. Don't trust me on this. Hopefully, our battery experts on the Forum will chime in here.

Another real positive is that Voopoo has gone to great lengths to try to water(juice)proof the board. There is a silicone covering over the top of the board which seals the switches. In Voopoo's words the Gene.Fit board is secured by a VO class fireproofing bridge to block dust, liquid or burnout. We have probably all lost mods due to leaking juice. Hopefully, this will prevent it.

One con, to some, is that the 510 protrudes from the top of the mod leaving a tiny gap between the tank and the mod. This doesn't bother me in the slightest, but I know that such things bother some of you.

Another issue is that the battery door (the panel with the Drag logo) moves slightly, both sideways and up and down. I know that this might drive some people nuts. Again it doesn't really bother me. My solution was to put two small lumps of prestik inside the door. This solves the problem completely. This solution would not work for those of you who would freak out to see it every time you replace the batteries. On the positive side is that although the magnets on the door are extremely strong, it is one of the easiest doors of its kind to open. You can get a strong grip on the door which facilitates this.

My overall impression (after 24 hours of use) of the Drag 2 Platinum Kit is that it is a well built high-quality kit. I hope to use it for years to come.

Thanks to Voopoo ( @VOOPOO ) for the prize.

I was fortunate to have also won a Voopoo 2 Platinum in the Giveaway and requested the Ink colour if possible (named the "Dark colour" on the Voopoo website).

Since @Puff the Magic Dragon beat me to the punch and posted his review first, I won't go thru all the basic details again, but what I will be concentrating on is my opinion of the kit, especially where my opinion(s) differ from that of @Puff the Magic Dragon

1.. The kit, and especially the mod, is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL - it actually looks like a high end product. It has just enough bling to make it look stunning but not over the top.

2.. The mod feels very comfortable in the hand with none of the sharp edges of its predecessor and is also noticeably lighter and smaller.
..... The edges are not completely rounded, they are more of a "flattened edge". Even so, it is very comfortable but obviously something that Voopoo can look at for the future. The pic below illustrates this.

006.jpg

3.. The overall build quality is really very good and while @Puff the Magic Dragon seems to have a bit of movement of the battery door, mine is basically perfect - the battery door only moves slightly if I apply medium pressure on it, something that one normally would not be doing anyways. The strong magnets ensure no rattle during normal use, even if you give it a shake.

4.. While I also thought that the polished/shiny finish would be a fingerprint magnet, surprisingly it is not, and repeated handling of the mod left only very faint prints.

5.. The display is definitely dimmer than that of the original Drag so a definite con (but, because it looks so stunning, I can live with it.)

6.. I really like the Ink (Dark Colour) panel since it tones down the bling sufficiently to not let the mod look like a Xmas tree. Also, it matches beautifully with the platinum parts of the mod and the tank. Note also how well it matches with the driptip.

7.. The 510 connection projects about 0.5mm above the surface of the mod. From personal experience, flush-sitting 510's can cause damage to the mod when using tanks that are wider than the 510 itself, so this can be both a pro and a con.

I endorse @Puff the Magic Dragon 's final comment that the Drag 2 Platinum Kit is a well built, high-quality kit.

I am really grateful that this kit ended up in my hands.

A VERY BIG THANK YOU to @VOOPOO for the giveaway and the prize.

Thanks for the great reviews @Puff the Magic Dragon and @ddk1979 !
So nice to see your impressions of this new mod

Have moved the thread to the relevant subforum in the Reviews category

Wow. I must say i own a drag as well, but this one looks spectacular. That platinum look does it well. Probably a fingerprint magnet, but i would just get a sleeve for that if possible, keeping it nice and fresh.

Well done!

Probably a fingerprint magnet

Both @ddk1979 and I have agreed that it is not really a fingerprint magnet. It looks like it would be but isn't. When I took it out of the box my first thought was ....here we go, fingerprint magnet. Obviously, it does leave some marks but they are not really noticeable.

@ddk1979 's photos capture the gloss level almost perfectly (they are more accurate than Voopoo's photos).

I see.. But it's a nice looking mod. All the mods i have i feel that i have to put pants on them.. ( sleeves) i like it to look like it was just bought even on day 100.

This one probably has some kind of coating sprayed on.

Hi guys. I've been searching for the Drag 2 mini platinum purple everywhere. People barely have the Drag 2 Mod but not the platinum mini. Does anyone kniw where I can get my hand on the mini platinum purple?

Nice Reviews!

It's a gorgeous high performing device my only disappointment was i thought after the criticism over the movement on the battery door on the standard Drag 2 version they would of fixed it before releasing the Platinum edition but no such luck if anything it's worse!

@Puff the Magic Dragon
I returned mine because the door kept on falling off , maybe the magnets were not strong enough and went back to Drag 1 .

I knew that it would drive some people nuts :) @ARYANTO

I seem to be using this mod less and less. I think that the sharp edges are bugging me (together with the dull screen). For me, the Artery Hive has been a real winner (mod on the extreme right in my review pic). Great screen and you just can't kill this thing, no matter how hard you try. Believe me, I have abused it (in the polite sense of the word).

The flavour mode on the Artery Hive and how it was marketed has to be the biggest rip off to vapers yet and taking us for idiots. The manufacturers don't deserve a penny!

The Alpha Zip is better, it is the Drag 2 just with different clothing and most importantly no battery panel movement.

I agree but most mods have one or several rubbish features. Just look at the Voopoo2 with its Fit function. Its really just the same old soft/medium/hard function. When I read about it I thought that it was a new feature.

I certainly didn't take the flavour mode seriously when I first encountered it. As you said in your review it's just a gimmick.

Apart from the dubious marketing I have really liked the mod.

I agree the Fit mode is not innovation like Voopoo try to make us believe and seems like you say to be smart mode and then just giving a higher and lower option so it's combining smart mode and preheats. But the flavour mode is just outright smart mode and it gives the same so called smart wattage for every single flavour profile, no difference whatsoever, 100% complete bollocks!
