...Medop CD 4820 Ultrasonic Cleaner for just under two grand excluding shipping.

ebay, ranging from around R1100 + R350-400 shipping, to R1600-1700 with free shipping.
160W vs 35/50 of the cheapos. i don't know if that would help with the coils, or whether it's the 42KHz that does it - because that's the same.

I think that it is more the frequency that is important

Yeez....they are expensive in SA and chinese. Seems some importers make big bucks. I bought a solid one here, german made, and paid 30 euro.

Nonetheless, its working fine to clean your gear... the mech stuff. I never used it for coils, thinking ita not worth it. When o clean the gear I would recoil as well.
I am just using tap water and add some dishwashing liquid.

Yip I'm now officially over buying an ultrasonic cleaner... I hardly ever use commercial coils anyway... plus I have no juice to "steep" because I simply have a line of Menthol Ice bottles ageing nicely... and then I'm pretty fanatical with my REO's anyway and it unlikely they will ever get dirty enough to need an ultrasonic bath!

My N2H disease is getting under control.
